Fans: "The crappy Switch is too weak and would never be able to handle Vampire Survivors!"
Vampire Survivors Devs: announces game for Switch...You were saying?
Anyways, yeah, I might get this again. I'm guessing it will use the new engine once that's fully fixed (I tried it out with the Steam version, it has issues. xD). Only thing I'm wondering about, though...is Sammy. The character that'll destroy any system in existence that runs the game. lol

Keep it PG-13-ish.
The sheer number of effects and particles on-screen at once can be a bit nuts in later levels. I predict a lot of framerate dips as things heat up. Although, at a certain point, that ceases to matter from a gameplay perspective, as enemies basically evaporate under the onslaught of your upgraded powers as soon as they come on-screen.
The game runs on potato PCs - I'm talking Pentium 4s and the like - so I don't think there was ever a question of the Switch not being powerful enough.
The slowdowns are, as others have suggested, were almost certainly an engine issue, as they happen on low and high end hardware alike. It's just too enticing a narrative that the game could bring a top-of-the-line games PC to its knees through sheer weight of pixel art, so must be somehow more demanding than - insert latest AAA game here - on account of that.
Too bad this wasn’t a shadow drop because I’ve been waiting to get into this more using real controls. I never liked the virtual joystick for phone games.
Only a week until this is available digitally. Considering how popular the game is, I'm hoping a physical release is in the cards sometime later on. But for now, this will go to the top of my wishlist. To be obtained once I have enough gold coins to throw at it.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)
Yeah if this was like a AAA priced game then it would probably have to wait since I'm tight on money right now, but the main game and the two DLCs are under $10 total. Wouldn't mind reexperiencing the game and unlocking everything with the new engine, and on Switch. owo
I do hope the problems were fixed, though...I think the new engine had weird issues involving how enemies were spawned and killed so you weren't able to kill as many. (I also think some of the powerups weren't working right like the Vacuum)

I know I’m maybe putting to much pressure on it but I haven’t been able to connect with any games outside pikmin for the last month. I’m hoping that vampire survivors will be the next one I enjoy
That's definitely too much pressure.
Treat it like some random indie game that looks like it's fallen through a time warp from the 1990s, as I'm sure most of us did when we first saw it last year, and you're far more likely to be pleasantly surprised by how well it plays.
This game is super fun. Completely mindless, but super fun, so it's pretty much perfect for the "one more round in bed before going to sleep" kind of casual gaming the Switch excels at. Seems to run very well on Switch as well, at least judging by the first two levels. I finished both of them, and even during the final minutes, when there's hundreds and hundreds of enemies and projectiles onscreen, I didn't notice any slowdown or frame drops.
This game is bad when you're about to go to bed, before you know it you've stayed up way too late or something. lol
Anyways it is fun starting over from the beginning, also experiencing the new engine on Switch is interesting, too. Just unlocked my favorite character again, gonna activate Limit Break and do a one weapon only run to see how the Switch handles that. xD

I've been playing on xbox since the switch launch lol, but I only make it to 11 minutes before I get swarmed and lose. Having a great time, but would love some tips on getting past that 11 min swarm. Just grind more I guess?
This little game was worth the wait! I’ve had 6 or 7 30min runs in these first couple days, and I’m well and truly hooked.
I love all the retro little Castlevania and horror movie tropes, and how the game slowly reveals its secrets. Maybe I’ll buy the DLC even.
