Topic: the new recent Virtual memory card thingy for Switch games. Whats the big fuss?

yesterday after doing a system update for my main Switch Lite, i also had to do the uploading thing for the virtual memory card feature thingy which was mostly useful for digital games in my opinion. I had to redownload some of my digital games in order to play them due to the addition of that new virtual memory card thingy.

wasnt a big hassle to deal with basically.

But other people were making a huge big deal about it though

so whats up with them not liking it or whatever?

@seinfeldfanatic I don't think that many people especially hate them, but the virtual game card system replaces the old way to share digital games and it has both pros and cons. On the negative side, 2 people can no longer play online together after buying only one copy of a digital game. On the pro side, you can now lend a digital game more easily to family.

No, it is purely for digital games.

Yeah its the fact it stops you buying one virtual copy of a game and using it across multiple consoles simultaneously before this you could put your account on like 4 switches and all play a game you bought on that account online with each other... Now this would make you have to have 4 virtual copies of this on different accounts to do the same.

For a lot of people though it wont really raise issues particularly if your the only one in your family who has a Switch or plays Switch games.

Until Switch 2 gets into peoples' hand and all those testers verify what is and isn't for VGC that is only way that anyone is going to know here.

The Virtual Game Card update is out, it has nothing to do with Switch 2 other than the fact that it's also on Switch 2

@skywake It does as no one including you have a Switch 2 to verify what it does on Switch 2.

Why would this feature they've launched in preparation for Switch 2 on the Switch also be different on Switch 2. There's no reason for it to be different. Honestly, this "we don't know" schtick you've been running on these forums is getting a bit tiresome

The virtual game cards already exist. You can use them already. We don't need to wait for the Switch 2 to be out to comment on how it works. End of discussion

@FishyS Also, you can play a game owned by one Nintendo account on one switch, while playing another game from the same account on the other switch, both offline. That helps a lot for portable gamers that share accounts, like me and my brother.

@pikachupikachup Yeah, it's nice they added that; it's nice they are making them act a little more like just passing a cartridge around the family.

@FishyS Just pointing out an issue that was fixed, rather a benefit that was removed.
