One of the many visual novels that have made their way from the PS Vita to the Switch. I've been slowly making my way through this for the past month or so. Your perspective is from a male teenager who recently began attending a private school, sharing classes and a dormitory with five women. They're your typical moe characters, each of them emotionally or mentally broken in some way.

The first twenty hours or so were a fairly lighthearted affair. Each of the women have their unique quirks as you exchange slightly lewd banter with each of them throughout the story. And as with most games like this your dialogue options suggest that you should commit yourself to one of the five women. With paths in the story branching depending on what you choose to say.

Of the five women, my choice was Sachi. My oh my, is this girl ever broken. Here at hour thirty, things have gotten a little spicy. Topless, soapy backrubs in the bathtub, with all naughty bits properly censored. Nothing outright raunchy.

But compared to the previous vn I tried, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk (which bored me to tears), The Grisaia Trilogy has been pretty entertaining. The story dances between silly and serious pretty well. The only problem might be the volume of content in this vn. Even after thirty hours I feel I might be only...a quarter of the way through the story?

I'd like to be through this before Clannad is in my hands, but at this rate...I may not be done with this trilogy of stories until sometime next year.

Fifty-five hours into The Fruit of Grisaia. Just finish my second playthrough, this time I chose Makina. And like Sachi, Makina is DTF, but her character appearance is much...much too young. It was at this point that I was glad that the Switch version had been toned down from the PC version. The character stories have been very interesting thus far, and I don't that experience muddled by overindulgent amounts of fanservice.

Well regardless, I'm certainly getting my money's worth. Fifty-five hours deep and I'm not even a third of the way through the series content? Woo boy, this is going to take a while. And how many more vn games are coming to the Switch?

If its anything vaguely like the anime, I imagine the end gets extremely dark. I've got this on my Switch but haven't had time to play it.

And personally, I am 100% okay with fan service. Judge me if you wish, I don't really care.

@Heavyarms55

No judgement here. I appreciate fanservice no less than you. It's just when your character is a father-figure and your character is DTF a girl who's barely a woman (because she acts like a pre-teen), things get murky and uncomfortable. It makes me squeamish, as though I were looking at couple with an age difference greater than twenty-five years.

For my moral sensibilities, it goes against the grain.

@Magician Ah. Fair enough. I don't remember all the characters. I did watch the anime, a good few years ago.

@Heavyarms55 I just watched the anime recently and for the most part it stays pretty faithful to the story of the VN. The anime is way too rushed though. It took me 140 hours to get through the whole trilogy (75 of that was The Fruit of Grisaia alone) so you can probably imagine how much content was cut out.

After 75 hours I finally made it to all five endings in The Fruit of Grisaia. Although I enjoyed all the characters and their stories I'm ready to move on to a different game. I'll come back to this in a couple or few years; it's still difficult to believe how much content is left to get through. But for now...I'm eager to begin Coffee Talk.

@Magician You should be more than half way through all the content in the whole package for what that's worth. The rest is definitely worth getting back to and finishing at some point if you've enjoyed what you've played so far.
