The games revolve around high school students being kidnapped, kept in isolation, and forced to kill each other under the promise of being released. Kind of dark subject matter, but the game plays out as though you're playing the board game classic Clue, a murder mystery.

If you've never played a game in the visual novel genre before, this is the one I recommend you start with.

It says the platform is "Playstation 4."

I do hope it comes to the Switch, though. It's one of my all-time favorite video game series, and it's the sort of game that would really shine on a hybrid system. It'd be especially cool if they enabled gyro aiming with the joycons during the trial segments.

True.

However, the search category is for Switch games and the description specifies Switch as the platform.

@Magician Weird, my listing says PS4 and Xbox One and the picture associated with it has the PS4 version's collector's box

EDIT: Someone on Twitter has informed me the Switch listing got taken down a short while ago
But the Xbox One listing is still up for some reason?

It was an old listing. Listing it as a Switch release was probably just a mistake by AmazonJP. Still, I hold out hope that the Danganronpa series does get a Switch port eventually. If not, at least we have AI: The Somnium Files as an alternative avenue for experiencing Kotaro Uchikoshi's style of storytelling.

@Magician Kazutaka Kodaka is the personality behind the Danganronpa games. As far as I know, despite the two developers knowing of and respecting each-other's work (and recently founding a new development studio together alongside other Spike Chunsoft employees), Uchikoshi had no hand in Danganronpa.

If you want Uchikoshi's "style of storytelling," I recommend tracking down copies of the Zero Escape trilogy, or finding a way to play the out of print PC visual novel Ever 17: The Out of Infinity, which is pretty much proto-Zero Escape.

The two are actually working on something together, though. A game called "Death March Club," which involves young schoolchildren and murder.

We'll see if THAT manages to get an uncensored release in North America in 2020.

@Ralizah - You're right. I had the Zero Escape creator confused with the Danganronpa creator. How embarrassing, I should know better as I consider both to be personal favorites. Not quite personal enough evidently.

I just played these games on Steam. While I enjoyed them very much, I don't think I would double dip right away, not full price anyway.

@Magician Everyone brainfarts now and then.

It is a little weird that we've not seen either the Danganronpa trilogy (and UDG) or the ZE trilogy on Switch. It's not like Spike Chunsoft doesn't publish games on Nintendo consoles. You'd think they'd want to expose a new and receptive audience to these cult classics.

So...the 10th Anniversary Collection was recently announced for iOS/Android. The announcement of a port to Switch is around the corner. Right? RIGHT!?

It has to be; the Switch is too successful in ignoring it.
