Looking for recommendations for suitable switch games for a teenager with a learning disability. Although having limited language is able to play some games like ‘yoshi” but having bought Pokemon dungeons have found she has struggled and become frustrated not being able to play it and move up levels. Looking for games she can play without too much instructions and reading skills and won’t cause a meltdown if she can’t do it- unfortunately I am of no use as far a Nintendo games go. She does like all things Pokemon though. Thanks
Interesting question. I hope others here have more ideas, but Mario Kart 8 could be a good one. There's optional auto steering & auto acceleration setting so the youngest in a family can still be included(like my 4 year old niece). If your teenager can play Yoshi, though, they might be ok to play normal without auto steer & accelerate.
I'd second Animal Crossing, although there is character interaction and reading in there, but still...
Obviously, from our point of view, it's hard to estimate how simple and/or text-less games would really need to be, but there most certainly are quite a few less text heavy and less complicated games, such as Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker, 1-2 Switch, ARMS, Go Vacation, Splatoon 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Spyro Reignited trilogy, Super Mario Party, Just Dance 2020, New Super Lucky's Tale and Kirby Star Allies. There's probably more, but that list should at least give you some idea...
So I'd say take a look at these games on Nintendo's official Switch games web page, and see what you think for yourself. There's decent descriptions of each game available, as well as pictures and/or videos, so that might also help you estimate how well suited these games are for your teenager.
Another tip that might come in handy, is the try before you buy method. There's plenty of games on the Switch that have free demos, so you could always download these, let her play them, and if it's too complicated or if she just doesn't like it, then you can take them off your shopping list.
And if you use the search function on the eShop on the Switch itself, you can select the option to only search for games with demos, and there you'll find even more free samples of games.
