I have been at this since I came home from work and now I am getting worried my switch is dead. my game software update got stuck and resulted in me not being able to launch the game, and I tried everything;
turning internet of and on, re-entering connection settings, restarting the system, removing the cartridge, and nothing worked.
I then came across the option of restoring the console to its factory settings without losing your save data by holding the power and volume buttons; so I did that, and It has been stuck on "restoring factory settings... do not touch the power button." for over an HOUR. I can't imagine it taking that long, but switching it off now would probably break the system. what do I do??? nintendo customer service is only reachable until 5pm so I wouldnt be able to call them till friday...
@hylianspirit I would probably turn the system off and see what happens. There's not much more you can try really. If you contact Nintendo they would likely suggest the same thing, or to send the system to them (either way resulting in the need to turn it off). You might have to send it to them anyway due to the previous issue (software not launching).
It shouldn't take over an hour; turn it off and reboot. If the system works, try deleting the software update and downloading it again. You could also try restoring to factory settings again - sometimes systems hang for no apparent reason but work after a hard reset (happens all the time with my PC).
