Just give Rayman and Crash Bandicoot and I'll be happy.

@Blackbird789 I can see one or the other. I can't see both honestly given the fact Sakurai likes to pull a character per genre for his DLC selections it seems

I was thinking Blanc or Neptune.

Then I feel Zelda has been lacking in representation lately so Zant, Linkle and Waddle Dee work too.

3rd Party, my wishlist is: Travis Touchdown, Doomslayer, Rayman, The Prince (Prince of Persia), Spyro, Sora (Kingdom Hearts), Agumon, Jill Valentine, King (Tekken),

1st Party it's Akira (Astral Chain), Isaac (Golden Sun), Dixie Kong, Captain Toad / Toadette, Adeleine & Ribbon, and Prince Sidon (Legend of Zelda). I wouldn't say no to Marina or Pearl either, but they're slightly lower on my list. Also a few like Grovyle or Sharla that will never ever happen.

And yes I know Akira and Jill are already deconfirmed.

As for my predictions...? Let's see...

4. Lloyd (Tales of)
5. LoZ BotW II Character (likely someone who originated in the first title and has a significant role in the second)

@Wargoose Still kind of surprised Layton isn't in. I haven't played a Layton game but the series has seen good success in the past and makes the most sense for a Level-5 rep, arguably being more likely than a Yo-Kai Watch rep.
@link3710 Pauline should definitely wait to be added until she has some actual decent moveset potential. Looking at Rosalina for reference, she was deeply ingrained with Galaxy and the general space themes present, and Galaxy had good material to work with between the Lumas, Launch Stars, Star Bits, and heck, even the cursor that could collect Star Bits. Pauline only appears in the Metro Kingdom and Darker Side in Odyssey, and doesn't fit as well with the theme of traveling the world on top of the other games she's appeared in not exactly providing much of a base anyways. Don't get me wrong, Pauline makes sense as a character, but I don't think they can make her work in Smash without a completely original moveset.

@PikaPhantom Oh I agree. I don't want her in (yet at least) I'm saying it's my prediction she will be in.

@link3710 That's fair, but who could they replace her with on New Donk City Hall if she's in the match (akin to Toon Link on Spirit Tracks)? I think that complicates things because they can't just remove her unless they want to get rid of the stage's gimmick that comes into play with Jump Up, Super Star and the Odyssey remix of the original game's overworld theme, while she's in the match.

@PikaPhantom They could just not replace her. She's on a background layer, not the foreground one. Besides, King Dedede is also in one of the stages as a background character without being replaced.

I'm not sure one of the Champions or a BOTW character would be the next choice for a Zelda rep as there's a few characters who are higher up the chain imo like Ganon (I know he's sorta in there already as Ganondorf's Final Smash), Midna, Tingle (how did he get his own multiple spin offs before Zelda herself!?!?) and Impa who are strong contenders already.

For predictions, I'm going for:

1. A Bravely Default or Bravely Default II character (tying in with Bravely Default II release)
2. A SMT character (tying in with SMTV release)
3. Rex (not promo but given we got an ARMS character, Rex seems likely)
4. Crash Bandicoot (tying in with a Switch release of Crash Bandicoot 4)
5. Hector or Seliph (tying in with a FE6 or FE4 remake release, FE7 is a prequel to FE6 so given we already have the main FE6 character it makes sense for Hector if FE6 remake happens)

@Grumblevolcano I would loooove another FE character because 1. I love that entire series, and 2. Everyone would be so mad😂

@Blooper987 Honestly right there with you. I would only be kind of upset if it was another freaking sword user because outside Byleth there isn't really much diversity amongst the roster in terms of actual weapons, just aesthetics, and it sucks due to how synonymous the weapon classes and triangle are with the series. We need more lance and axe users

@Grumblevolcano If they did do mainline SMT the only ones I can see personally happening are either Demi-fiend from Nocturne or Flynn from SMT IV. It made sense they led in with Persona because that subseries is the most recognizable of Atlus' series, even to non-SMT players, but the first two games haven't recieved an official translation for home consoles yet and NINE is still a Japanese Xbox exclusive for some reason lol

@link3710 Dedede doesn't appear if he's in play. My point is, on New Donk City Hall, there's a stage gimmick where you touch all the musicians of the band for them to start playing different parts of the 2 songs mentioned. If you left Pauline out, the gimmick would be broken for Jump Up, Super Star. It's not just a background appearance as with Dedede

Mara is my nomination as a SMT rep

My wishes? Well, in a top ten format (with some flexibility with the lower half to be fair)
1. Midna/Skull Kid (either-or, I like both)
2. The Arbiter (yeah Master Chief makes more sense, but I always liked Arby more)
3. Persona 4 Protagonist (been on a MASSIVE P4G binge lately)
4. Professor Layton (My favorite puzzle series)
5. Spyro the Dragon (Always preferred Spyro to Crash)
6. Saki Amamiya (Never played Sin and Punishment, but I thought the laser-sword-gun-thing was cool)
7. Doomguy (For the juxtaposition with the rest of the cast alone!)
8. Scorpion (Get OVER Here!)
9. Ori (Just so CUTE you guys!!)
10. Rundas (coolest Metroid bounty hunter)

Predictions? I think Nintendo is going to go full 1st party in this fighters pass except for one entry (kind of the opposite of the last fighters pass).

3. Astral Chain main characters (do they have names? probably)
4. Sylux
5. Karate Joe
6. Crash Bandicoot

@TheFrenchiestFry With Nintendo picking the characters, I'd imagine promo is the priority for most of the picks. If SMTV doesn't do well enough, I could see Atlus dropping SMT in favour of completely focusing on Persona. Given Nintendo got SMT while Sony got Persona, that would be bad for Nintendo so I think Nintendo will do all they can to help SMTV do well enough for more SMT games to happen.

@Grumblevolcano I don't know if they'll use a Smash fighter as part of an SMTV promo campaign, mainly because it's mostly Atlus who does the marketing around all their self published titles with minor involvement from console manufacturers like Sony and Nintendo through social media. The reason Nintendo pushed TMS so hard likely had to do with the fact they published the game while Atlus just developed it. I can totally see another Atlus rep happening however, but I feel like it's more likely to be another Persona rep like Yu Narukami personally due to P4G gaining a massive surge in popularity thanks to the PC version. I don't necessarily think it'll hurt Nintendo because while Persona is predominantly Sony exclusive I just assumed Nintendo made the choices they did like Richter, Cloud, Snake and Joker out of just assuming that most people who bought the game likely aren't just strictly Nintendo console owners, as Ultimate's intention is to celebrate gaming as a whole

@AnnoyingFrenzy Ori would be pretty cool, especially since Will of the Wisps' expanded combat could give them an interesting moveset (though if nothing else, Rivals of Aether features Ori with Sein in a platform fighter and it should be out on Switch soon).

With this pass I think it's better to just think about who has a shot over a set list of expectations. There will, of course, be characters with better chances of getting in, and characters that have no chance (Assist Trophies, post-launch Spirits in part because the earlier ones don't really have much potential and later ones because they released after planning for Fighters Pass 2 began, if it wasn't already done). I also don't think every character will be a direct promotion, because Joker, Banjo, and Terry clearly weren't added to promote upcoming releases, Hero had alts to represent other Dragon Quest games, and Byleth...is Byleth.

I do think we'll see an indie rep, whether it's Quote, Steve, Shantae, or someone else. I also think there are many characters that are likely that I'd be good with but wouldn't pick immediately myself, like Ryu Hayabusa, Arle, or heck, even Lara Croft.

As for special Mii costumes, they're harder to predict because some candidates could be full-on fighters. However, I think the Knight from Hollow Knight is a given and that we could also see the Castle Crashers Knight, Hat Kid (with the umbrella as a stand-in for the sword), and Rusty from SteamWorld Dig as a brawler.
