Haven't had the time to comment on it due to being at work for most of the day (and then immediately launching into my first playthrough of Dead Space once I got back XD) but holy hell, they absolutely knocked it out of the PARK with Splatoween this year. All the environmental flourishes, the variations to pre/post match screens and the music? OH MY LORD THE MUSIC
It's been a blast so far and, while I unfortunately haven't been able to play much so far, I'm definitely going to be putting in a ton of effort for Team Ghost on Day 2 (where I've heard there's supposedly a new version of Anarchy Rainbow as well so that should be great).
@luckyseven I'm on Team Skeleton and so far I've only played against Team Zombie once. I thought Zombie would be popular because Shiver but it seems not to be the case.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah, instead of unique Shifty Stations, we got modified Tri-color stages which are… well, ‘new’ in a sense, but they don’t feel nearly as unique (aside from the Zelda one).
Haven't been having a great time so far so just trying to get to Ruler then bail. Only played a few games yesterday because I had a lot of lag and lost every non-mirror match. Played some Tri-Colour today but it's been almost all mirror matches for Team Ghost and the few that aren't we've gotten thrashed again. Switched back to regular and immediately got a 100x battle which we won so at least my only proper win for the whole Splatfest so far was that.
@Croctopus Yeah, I am Zombie as well. I thought for sure Zombie would be the most popular...I am genuinely shocked. Nearly all my matches outside of Tri-color battles have been against Ghost. I am still having a lot of fun though and I don't even like Turf War LOL. I have made it to Zombie Ruler +1, which is by far the highest level I have ever achieved in a Splatoon 3 Splatfest. One minor quibble; so they put this great Halloween music in the lobby and victory screen, but not the battle/stage music? Like WTF? Imagine how awesome it would have been to have spooky music bumpin during the battles..
Got matched with some strong teammates and we won nine games in a row together until a couple of them dropped so that was a bit more fun. Almost at Ruler now.
Zombie or Ghost has definitely won Tricolor, Brinewater Springs is a very offense based map so Skeleton loses out because of no 1.5x bonus when on offense.

The x100 match thing happened to me as well! 😂 Played Tri-Colour a few maches and then switched back to regular. The very first game was x100, and I won with a huge lead.
At Tri-Colour I only got mirror matches and 1 single non mirror that I barely won.
I was really excited for that map... But it feels very unbalanced. The defending team can easily lock you into your spawn. And if you are able to push to mid, they will be right behind you when they respawn. So I decided to just play regular. And Tri are 95% of the time mirror amyway.
Okay, some of you were talking about how easy it is for the defenders (the tricolour map), but I got the exact opposite impression. As an attacker, you can literally just wait for the defenders to move slightly out of your path, then squid surge over the ledge and make an attempt. If you keep doing this for most of the match, you're pretty much guaranteed to get at least one ultra signal. (every attempt makes the time you have to hold it for diminish) Dunno though.
As ghost I keep getting mirror tri matches so I probably won’t even bother playing any more tri. Also are the connection issues bad for anyone else for this fest? I got booted out of a mirror match not even a few seconds into it and I got banned after getting a communication error in an open match with 50 secs left
@Croctopus as another Shiver fan I know how you’re feeling. People are going to celebrate about how “Shiver finally lost!!” which totally won’t get annoying…
I must be cursed or something because ever since the Anniversary Splatfest (aka the one that introduced the special 10x Deep Cut badges), I've only gotten ONE 10x in the two fests since (which I lost). I've mainly been playing Splatfest, is there something I'm doing wrong here?
@Grumblevolcano Don't forget that Ghost and Skeleton also get a small points bonus due to having the most Conch Shells/being in the lead at Half-Time.
I personally really don't want Zombie to win myself. I've got absolutely nothing against the people on it (and I nearly went with it myself before deciding on Ghost) but good lord: if Splatoon is known for currently being a fair bit toxic as is, could you IMAGINE the fallout if Shiver managed to win despite having less popularity AND losing both the Conch Shell and Half-Time Report.

All right, I think I did pretty decent in the Splatfest overall. Managed to get a healthy amount of clout for Open, Pro, and Tricolor matches, and even won two 100x battles for Zombie. One for Open, the other for Pro. We'll see which team wins in an hour from now... if Skeleton or Ghost wins this one, I'll at least be happy for Frye or Big Man since it's been a while since their teams won.

The Shiver streak is finally over!
GG's everyone; this was definitely one of the most fun Splatfests I've played (and has pretty much reignited my love/interest for Splatoon 3) and being on the winning team just made things all the more sweet! 🧟☠👻

It’s annoying that Tri-thingy battles are so rare as a lot of people haven’t seemed to figured out how to win still, like if you’re the attacking team the goal is to not lose rather than to win so they keep splatting the other attacking team to inadvertently let the defending team win.
I think we need a lobby music volume setting in-game. What's the point of playing a song in the lobby if you can barely hear it?
@jump Yeah, that's part of my complaint about tricolor. Teammates often don't understand the goal, and the tricolor mode flounds when that happens, which is too often. Although, if they made tricolor playable outside of Splatfest, I guess that could harm it's novelty. I'm not sure what the solution is. Or maybe the concept needs to be simplified, somehow.
@Fizza As someone who was on Zombie, I'm actually happy that Big Man's Splatfest team won after so long. Congrats to you and everyone else on Ghost. (Poor, poor Frye, though...)
