Topic: Splatoon 1&2 Players: Why Do Players Get Disconnected or Go Offline?

Sometimes, when I played Splatoon 1 or 2. Some players on your team or the opposing team in online battles get disconnected or go offline leaving 3 players either on your team or the opposing team. Then, at the start of battle, or during battle. Some of your teammates go AFC(away from controller) by not moving their characters. What’s wrong with Splatoon players in online battles?
Are they not doing their homework, their chores, or something?

@LinkxPeach disconnects could be down to poor connections on tour teammates part, as for AFK it's usually just idiots staying in the matchmaking lobby while going to make drinks or to the toilet. It might even be younger kids getting called away and not wanting to "loose their spot" without caring about the impact it has on the team.
I wouldn't worry too much as the lack of voice chat stops it from being super competitive anyway (unless yoir in a discord call or something similar) so just have fun with it.

It could be they have a bad connection. It could also be they don't want to play that map so they leave. It just doesnt happen in Splatoon either. It happens all the time in CoD. There's nothing to worry about.

@LinkxPeach I think sometimes when your connection goes bad, the result is other players disappear from the map, or don't move, because your switch has stopped receiving their data.

Otherwise, I think I notice more people disconnecting when around dinner time, when they get called to dinner.

But disconnections happen. Rare in my matches, but they happen.

Usually, it's either Internet problems or they have to leave and just be AFC and annoy the hell out of their mates.

My controller is broken, so when I play sometimes the controller doesn't connect and a disconnect.

I never ever get disconnected in Splatoon 2! I'm not exaggerating, I don't recall it ever happening lol. All what's required is a good broadband and strong Wi-Fi. Sometimes I wonder... are people not willing to pay? Or they live in areas without fibre optic? As for standing still, there are some occasions where I do that if I am not ready such as to get water or to adjust motion controls.

Usually if I lose connection, it's once in a blue moon after a match ended. In Splatoon and most online games I play, I usually play the whole match, unless it's a game like CS:GO, where casual mode is designed to drop in and drop out.

@123akis Speaking for myself, I use to live in a town where the only Internet options were 3Mbps and 5Mbps. Played Splatoon on Wii U with this speed and never got disconnected, as long as no one was using the Internet.

Since moving a few years back, I have much better Internet as where I live around 100Mbps to 300Mbps. I've played Splatoon 2 with this Internet.
