Topic: Protecting your console and pro controller

Just got a Switch and may actually be swapping it out for another one if the hardware with the better battery life shows up soon. I got a nice skin for the console and joy cons and a glass screen protector, and also those little rubber things that you can put on the analog sticks. I was considering getting a case as well, possibly a dockable one, but sometimes those cases cause more issues because you have to take them on and off and dirt gets inside the case etc. and in my experience they end up making things worse.

My son is approaching 7 years old and he's good with his things for the most part for his age, but I am always looking for better ways to protect our shared devices. I also bought a pro controller. He's dropped it once already, though it seems fine.

Any other good accessories I should consider?

Also, I noticed that we already kind of scratched up the edges (rails) of the joy cons where they attach to the Switch and the comfort grip. I am assuming this is unavoidable given how they go together and the fact they are plastic and the rails on the Switch are metal?

Thanks

@ajm222 I'd suggest going with one of the more expensive screen protectors. I've seen some of the cheaper ones that are little more than plastic wrap. I got one that's a kind of Plexiglas for about 20 bucks and feel confident that only metal or rock would be able to scratch the screen now. Switch cases can be tricky because of the whole removable joycon thing, but Hori has a few decent options.

I drop my pro controllers on the ground all the time (on accident). Nintendo's hardware are usually pretty sturdy.

Thanks for all the suggestions and insight! Much appreciated.

Wouldn't worry too much about the pro controller. I have a launch day one that has been dropped many times unfortunately (9/10 year Olds) and thing is a tank, built very solid!

yeah, i'm not too worried about it breaking. was more interested in just keeping it clean and looking nice. but that's kind of ridiculous. i'm a bit OCD so i worry about stuff like that when i should really just be worried about whether it works or not. i do like how it has more of a matte finish. the wii u controller had that smooth, shiny plastic which showed tons of fingerprints and scratches and just drove me crazy. but that one was dropped about a hundred times and treated pretty rough and it never failed.
