Topic: Our World Is Ended

Just finished this up. Thought I'd throw out an opinion in case anyone was curious.

Our World Is Ended is a visual novel in which you experience the story from the perspective of Reiji Gozen. You are the most recent addition to a team of video game developers by the name of Judgement 7. Throughout the sixteen chapters (and near 40 hours of story) you'll get to know your fellow team members. Learn a bit about their personal history and lifestyles.

As with most visual novels, gameplay is nearly non-existant. With your only involvement being a dialogue choice that appears once every hour or two. A choice that has no bearing on the game's ending. Which begs the question, "why even have choices at all?"

Characters. Here in OWiE the characters will either make or break your enjoyment of the story. Honestly, I was invested for the first 25 hours. The deep dives for lead programmer Sekai Owari, the genius programmer Tatiana Sharapova, and office assistant Yuno Hayase kept me going. However, the cringy programmer Iruka No. 2 and abrasive design artist Natsumi Yuki drained my will and tanked my engagement with the story.

By the end OWiE felt like a wanna-be Steins;Gate, minus the time travelling.

It wasn't a waste of time, I enjoyed a few of the characters. But there are better stories out there.

I give this visual novel four Yuno's flavored shaved ice out of ten.

Honestly really dislike how Tatiana has an ending yet throughout the entire game, the protagonist does not show any desire for her as a girl. Now you may consider her a child and a taboo option, but when I first saw her in the screenshots of the game I thought she was just an attractive foreigner. Although her behavior is questionable, she is a middle school student and isn’t even that much shorter than the other characters. I really wish that the protagonist did not share such lack of interest.
