Yeah I'm not in any rush for a Direct. My backlog is fairly big and I've added to it thanks to all the sales over the holidays. I have limited time for gaming right now anyways.
Besides, the only reason I had wanted a Direct was Smash and that's been taken care of already, plus I'm not sure we can expect fighter 6 until E3.
@IceClimbers I think for this year we'll get 1 character around April/May (announced in the next Direct), 1 around July/August (announced at E3) and 1 around November (announced in the September Direct).
I'm still betting we'll make it to almost 7 months before the next general direct happens. April 1st direct baybee!
But yeah, same boat, I really don't care. I'm overwhelmed with releases as it is between Tales of Mana, PMD, Animal Crossing, Doom, TW101, Summer of Mara and my massive backlog. Just about finished with Gris personally, it was quite the experience.

Same here, pretty much. I've only had my own Switch for a few weeks now. I went a bit nuts with sales and other stockpiled purchases over time before actually getting one. The 3DS is still my main JRPG console for the time being (yay backlog), but at the rate it's going my Switch will soon assume that role.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
I care! I want something soon or else I'm turning all my funds/time to my next PC build. Seriously. I have almost nothing to look forward to for the next 3-4 months on Switch. Animal Crossing isn't my thing, and something like Trials of Mana isn't a day one buy for me.
It's fine. I know the Switch won't have something for me every month all the time, but I would at least like a clearer picture of the upcoming year to be better informed. That's all.
I just need to wait 2 more days and then I'm sorted for Switch plans for the next several months (no specific order after the first 2) if there is no general Direct:
Cindered Shadows DLC
2nd path for Fire Emblem Three Houses main game (Cindered Shadows opens up new content in the main game so want to do a 2nd playthrough afterwards)
Back to DQXI S (very long game)
New Super Lucky's Tale
Back to Daemon X Machina
Back to Ori
Playing through a bunch of games from the Mega Man collections (including the upcoming collection)
Wonderful 101 Remastered (Kickstarter page all but confirms April release date as shipping date is in April)
... and so on.
But yeah, in these early parts of the year your backlog generally decides how much you crave a Direct. I craved a Direct in January 2019 because Nintendo's gigantic focus on Smash in the 2nd half of 2018 meant not much backlog.
I still have enough games to play on my switch but at this point I just want to have a Nintendo direct to plan out my purchases. For example this month Rune factory 4 and two point hospital are releasing which are 2 games that I would probably enjoy but maybe next month there is a game releasing that I would enjoy more like trails of cold steel 3. I also have a ps4 so I have to keep an eye on the games that are not releasing on the switch which makes things even more complicated. I really don't like people begging or demanding a direct. But I really would like a regular one before the last week of february. But I'm kind of worried that we won't get one at all this month which would make the decision of purchasing Rune factory 4 and/or two point hospital even harder. So if your uncle realy works at nintendo please ask him for a direct this week .
I too am getting really antsy. I keep frequenting this site for news. I’m Very eager to see what Nintendo has to show for the most of 2020.
I still got a backlog I’m playing through. The past month I’ve beaten for the first time mario galaxy 1, 2, super mario world 2, original Star Fox, and right now playing through Super Metroid for the first time ever.
CURRENTLY PLAYING
Switch: Xenoblade Chronicles
Playstation 5: Assassins Creed Shadows
Xbox Series X:
It's definitely happening either this week or next.
With them having only 1 console now, they're just not gonna leave massive gaps in their calendar like they did on some previous consoles. It would be really bad for their business if they lose that sales momentum. A lot of people do make buying decisions based on anticipated upcoming games.
Fire Emblem DLC and Animal Crossing is not enough for the first 6 months of the year, obviously.
Wednesday is when you find out for certain if a Direct happens in a week. Directs which happen afternoon UK time are announced 2 days before meanwhile Directs which happen late evening UK time are announced the day before. That said don't get your hopes up too high for a general Direct this week, Nintendo probably wants to promote the Fire Emblem DLC this week (also a big sale starts on Thursday which is rare to coincide with a general Direct).
@Grumblevolcano I mean, don't forget that outside of E3, we haven't had a worldwide general direct in the second half of the month since 2013. If it's not this week, that basically guarantees it's not happening until March or April IMO.
@link3710 PAX East as well pretty much confirms if there's no general Direct this week there won't be one until March at the earliest. PAX East starts on February 27th and Nintendo gives attention to indie games close to PAX East and PAX West.

Indie World - August 19th 2019
PAX West 2019 - August 30th-September 1st 2019
Yes there's the case of Indie World in December 2019 but I'd guess it's an extra one, not a replacement to one in February.
@Grumblevolcano Announcement tommorow. Or none until april. DMC creative director said to watch out for February 13th. Makes sense if there is an announcement tommorow. And how does PAX fit into this?
