Hey all!

I just bought a switch and I am having a blast playing mariokart singleplayer and coop with my girlfriend. However I am unable to play online. After I have selected my character and kart etc. I always get the message ''A communication error has occured." I have tried port forwarding and opening DMZ, but I am not able to play any game. My NAT type is also on A so I don't see what the problem is. I am on a wired connection. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I know that last weekend when splatoon 2 had a splatfest. The switch had tons of discontents so its could be actually Nintendo online the problem. Also i dont know if you have done a wifi test which you can do on any phone or computer, as if you not got a good speed it could be that. Sorry im not much help, hope you get sorted out soon.

I am on a wired connection with a lan adapter so I don't think that should be a problem. I bought a lan adapter, because I couldn't play online before. Unfortunately a wired connection did not solve my issue. Thank you for response though.

You'll only ever want to either enable DMZ or port forwarding, not both at once. If you're getting NAT A though, I have no idea what it could still be. Have you already tried Nintendo's walkthrough?

Few months ago I changed internet provider and from type A went on type D so I couldn’t play p2p online games like Splatoon and Mario Kart but was able to play Rocket League because it’s not p2p connection.
I couldn’t do anything but call my new provider. When I told them about my problem they said they need to change some parameters for my connection. That was on their side.
I suggest you try a game with dedicated servers and give your provider a call.
