Topic: Mario Wonder: Will there be DLC?

I recently finished Mario Wonder and had a great time, the final secret world was an absolute nightmare but it overall the experience I had was fantastic.

All that said, do you think there's room for DLC in Wonder or is this the final package?

Usually, Nintendo announces any paid DLC before launch, and often, free updates as well. That being said, I can see them making exceptions for games in this period of the Switch's life in order to pad out later Directs, especially because Pikmin 4 seemingly had DLC teased a few months ago. Additionally, there is a top-left portion of the Flower Kingdom that's conspicuously empty, certain mechanics did go fairly underutilized in the base game, and both New Super Mario Bros. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U did receive DLC, so there's a chance we see more.

Considering that Nintendo started making DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe five years after the base game came out, I'd say it could happen. It all depends on what they wanna do. I've 100%'d Super Mario Bros. Wonder so I'm more than ready for DLC should they be working on that. I'd welcome DLC for Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Party Superstars, as well... would still love to see GameCube-era boards for MPS myself.

I'd love a few more levels on wonder.
I, too, noticed the dead area that @pikaphantom mentions and wondered that myself.
I just hope that if they do add more levels, that they aren't too hard like the special zone.

It's possible given they did it with the last mainline 2D Mario (NSMBU launched in November 2012 and the DLC expansion NSLU launched in June 2013). That said, I'm leaning towards no given Nintendo in the Switch era has generally announced DLC pre-launch so Pikmin 4 DLC would've appeared in the June 2023 Direct and SMB Wonder DLC would've appeared in the September 2023 Direct.

Outside of the already announced Side Order DLC for Splatoon 3, I think the Nintendo 1st party games that have best chance of getting DLC in 2024 are MK8 Deluxe and Smash Ultimate.

As much as I would eat up DLC for Wonder, I'd rather they focus on a straight-up sequel!
Wonder feels like a pretty complete game to me and I'm pretty sure the developers said that it would be the groundwork for future 2D Mario projects to come so yeah I'd be totally fine waiting a few more years for more wonderful levels and new badges.

It says on the website that dlc will be sold separately so it’s probably gonna happen.

Hard to predict but I really hope they do. Wonder is a great game but it is relatively short and has a lot of features it barely uses. I think it should go the new super mario bros u deluxe route — that game has a lot of content without needing more full levels. They could add mini challenges, new modes to play, better speed run/race modes, maybe challenges with the current levels but requiring various badges, etc. They could add a ton without actually adding any new regions. A new character with a different special move set (cough Rosalina) would be fun too.

In terms of timing, they may be waiting for the February direct to help pad the announcements. Alternatively, it's at least possible there might be a special feature in the DLC made for the next console (or just a special edition release) so it could be waiting to be closer to cross-release.

Pretty sure that is a generic comment. The game is marked as 'in-app purchases' because you can't use all the features without subscribing to NSO.

@FishyS no if you look at the website, it specifically says full game needed for dlc and dlc sold separately. The ersb usually doesn’t say in app purchases if it requires switch online.
