Topic: Making the switch to the Nintendo Switch

Been playing Xbox for the past 7 years and now I made the switch to the Nintendo Switch. What made me switch is the mobile aspect of the Nintendo Switch along with the fact I was unimpressed with Microsoft's exclusive games. I'm a big 3rd party support guy and I love Blizzard games so I am praying that games like Diablo 3, Overwatch and Hearthstone come to the Nintendo Switch. Also getting GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 with be so awesome. Glad to be back supporting the company I grew up playing games with. Anyone else come from Xbox or PS4 that is now supporting Nintendo ?

For me I don't feel like I need to choose one over the other. I still play my Xbox One a lot. You won't see Battlefield 1 on the Switch anytime soon.

From Beginning my First Love is Nintendo.
I was raised by NES when I was kids. Playstation 1 & 2 when I was Teen, but Wii and NDS switching me back to Nintendo's Road. Nintendo Switch is completely empowering my Love for Nintendo.

Well, meanwhile I have to buy ps4 to play The Sims 4 console version, a little bit betrayal but I will treat my ps4 as a Secondary machine while Nintendo machines as Primary machines.

I used to play with PS1 and PS2 (and Gamecube) but then PS3 has been disappointing for me and now I just play with Nintendo consoles and PC and I'm not very interested in Sony consoles anymore

I grew up playing Sega and Playstation, and stuck with Playstation for a long time. I actually stopped playing games for years, like since 2008-09ish. Not by choice, just didn't have a lot of free time or money. When I first heard of the Switch (NX at the time) it was just the perfect fit for an adult life that I'm trying to lead, haha, and the desire to still play a good game.

It looks like they're trying to make "the switch" to Nintendo as easy for us as possible. What with getting these Bethesda games and keeping up with a VERY steady flow of indies. How does the future of my gaming life look? shakes magic 8 ball " Outlook good". Thanks Magic 8 Ball, you're the best!

@Tomoose Oh, Tomoose, I think you'll be waiting a very long time for Overwatch to hit the Switch. That said, I could definitely see Hearthstone coming along, and GTA V seems a definite possibility. Red Dead Redemption 2 might be a bit of a technical stretch but hey, if we can get DOOM, I'd take a graphically watered-down Red Dead Redemption 2!

I'm pretty similar: PS2 and PS3, with a little PSP in between, since the early Noughties. Hadn't bought a new console game since about 2010, when my first kid was born, and even then I was buying second-hand. Mainly playing on iOS since around then, which is genuinely great if you like old-school RPGs. The Switch is the first console that has gotten my interest in a long time. I probably should have got a 3DS or Vita ages ago, but the hybrid nature of the Switch was actually a big selling point. And I love finally being able to get into the Nintendo franchises - first time since playing the N64.

I grew up playing consoles and then PC as well back in blizzards glory days of D1 D2 Starcraft Warcraft.. then as PC kept getting better and better i gradually quit playing console.
The last console i purchased was PS2 and the only thing i felt i was missing out on was final fantasy and the 1-2 years it takes for rockstar to bring the newest gta to PC.. from GameCube to wiiu Nintendo offered me nothing desirable.
Now i can't believe how bad i want a switch.. xbox and PlayStation offer nothing because everything is better on PC... when i read about the specs for the switch i wasn't interested at all. I was like "well here's Nintendo again not trying to compete as the most powerful console instead offering out dated hardware in an attempt to offer gamers some niche experience"
.. but then I see Zelda, a game that could have been made 10 years ago yet it looks more fulfilling than anything i see on xbox or ps at the moment.. and after that the more games i see the more fun it looks.. all these Nintendo exclusives i can't play on PC but this time i actually want to play them.
And even though i don't play handheld games and have no desire to buy a handheld cuz i would never use it, the fact that the switch is portable is just nothing but a plus to me.. i mean i could just lay in bed playing it sometimes just because i can.
After seeing octopath traveller i was sold.. that's the one thing about PC.. there are almost 0 JRPGs... one of my favorite type of games.. now after looking at xenoblade (xenosaga is one of my favorite games of all time and one of the last games i played on console) I absolutely am going to buy one before December 1st and am SO tempted to buy one now just for the octopath demo.
Sooo.. considering i have been playing games all my life and haven't bought a console since i was in high school and am 33 now... i think it says a sh*tload about what Nintendo is doing with the switch when i feel I'm about to be Nintendo's newest fanboy.

I NEVER consider PC is the best of all.
Instead, I consider consoles / handhelds are more versatile than PC.
I don't care with powerful specs, I just only care with Right games to play and engagement.
Even the graphic is 2D like NDS or GBA, as long the game is interesting, I will buy it and play it.
And, By playing on PC, I have NO FREEDOM to take my games on the go. Also, it consumes more Watts, not good for monthly billing. And, NOT ALL console / handhelds games are availanle on pc as well, so I will miss a lot of titles by doing so.

Right now, I have NDS Lite, Old 3DS XL, New 3DS XL, Wii, Wii U and upcoming next : Nintendo Switch and ps4.

@Anti-Matter well basically your whole opinion is that handhelds are the best because they are portable.
Nothing is more versatile than PC for home gaming but i don't care to discuss console vs pc.. it's all about what a person enjoys for themselves.
But I've seen you all over these threads just being new here myself the past couple days and i can't believe you don't have a switch yourself yet.. how come?

I come from PC but I own 2xGBA-AGS101, DS Lite, 3ds XL, New 3ds XL, New 2ds XL. I made the "switch" yesterday(had birthday). I come home from work and on the bed I found 2 boxes. One very small and One big, both wrapped like presents fro Christmas I opened them and I got Switch Gray and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. That was the surprise my girlfriend made me and I did not own any home console for around 20 years. Now I can't stop playing that Zelda , it is amazing!

Now I can't wait for Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and the inevitable Pokémon RPG game!

What size/ resolution PC monitor do you have? If it's greater than 1080p can you hook it up and let me know how the switch looks on it?

@Inertiacreep I connected the Switch to my 4K TV and it looks Great! Even if the game is at lower resolution it is barely noticeable.
Other people might have problems with that but I never go nuts over graphics and resolutions.

@Zuljaras yes but tv's generally handle upscaling a lot better than computer monitors which is why I'm specifically asking

Eh.... still saving my money for buying Switch on December 2017.
I will start buy the machine after Super Mario Odyssey released.

Oh lol, the struggle... me too. I mean I could buy it now but I'm trying to be conservative because the only game I would play on it atm is Octopath demo because after spending $300 on the system, I do NOT want to spend any more money until I buy Xenogears.. Because I ALSO have to buy the pro controller which is stupid expensive.

Are you going to have it before Xenogears comes out? Whats the first game you gonna buy?
