@superguy123 Rocket League is half the price, only currently available from the eshop, and a different proposition to LA Noire. Don't think there's much point in analysing the charts (which provide very little information anyway), after less than a day of sales.
Why are people so obsessed with negative sales talk? Only the publishers and devs know how many they want to sell to reach certain milestones.
hmm i'm not obsessed in that regard, rather have the game sell well, devs are the ones going to be obsessed if they decide to not bring games due to this game not selling well and that would be a problem
what might be a deciding factor is how the switch version sells in comparison to the ps4 / xbox version, but seeing how it does on the eshop is quite important aswell.
@superguy123 Take Two, who own Rockstar, have already stated that they are already planning to release more games for the Switch. Whether that will include more Rockstar titles remains to be seen, but I wouldn't be surprised if the expected sales achieved for LA Noire were pretty low for the Switch.

@superguy123 Rocket League was available from midnight while LA Noire didn't appear on the Eshop till later. I'm not sure what time it actually appeared but I checked around 5am and it was still in the coming soon section.Considering the size of the digital file, I'd imagine most of its sales will be physical even with the extra download.Plus it's Eshop page only had a single screen up until a couple of days ago and there was no trailer featuring gameplay anywhere until recently. With all that, it's not really surprising it's not entered the charts after just 12 hours. Going by others opinions on it though, it's a very good port and with all the extra exclusive features possibly the definitive version too. Hopefully reviews will make that clear and we see it climb up the charts.
I'm not buying L.A. Noire due to Rockstar's decision to leave half the game off the cartridge. Some seem to defend this practice now, but wait until you have six or more such games with 15GB+ downloads and we'll see what they think of developer's cost-cutting measures when they're swapping out microSDs like cartridges. I'm more than happy to pay more for Switch games (as opposed to past generations). They offer a lot more bang for the buck than the competition, but I won't support this, as it pains me to say. I was initially very excited about Rockstar supporting the Switch, and I'll still consider it if Rockstar issue a reprint on a 32GB cartridge (even at a higher price), but I won't indulge this practice. The more we support anti-consumer practices such as this (and this is completely unprecedented, that I know of, on a dedicated portabe gaming console) , the worse it's going to become in the long-term (and it's already pretty friggin' bad now).
However, if it's possible to back up update data from a microSD card (and back it up to a PC) and use it with another Switch console (with a completely different user profile), then perhaps the practice won't be such a dealbreaker if I can save the extra data for prosperity, but I'm not yet willing to buy a half-physical game to find out. It sure as hell isn't ideal, but I may be inclined to think differently (though I would still hate the practice and be very selective with what I buy, and I absolutely will not buy such a game without a substantial discount if I need to essentially assemble half the physical copy myself).

rocket league launched same day, why i found it interesting
LA Noire is available as a physical game though unlike Rocket League. Also if people don’t have a micro SD then they wouldn’t really be able to buy the digital version. Talk about jumping the gun...
Impressive how the micro SD scandal keeps being brought up on every occasion. I bought a micro SD back in february so it was ready even before the Switch hit the stores. Took me about 3min to click-buy it. If I managed I'm sure everyone else can !
The sad reality is that some games are going to bomb, or underperform. L.A. Noire is most likely going to be one of those games, for a number of reasons:
1). It's an expensive port of a six year old game that, unlike Skyrim, has sort of been forgotten. It's a good game, but it would have made more sense for Rockstar to port Red Dead Redemption or GTA 5, if it's sales that they're interested in.
2). Launching two-plus weeks after Mario Odyssey. I mean, I'm still working on Odyssey (550 power moons), and I bought the game day one. Most people who bought their Switch are likely playing that game.
3). A busy November. Rocket League, Skyrim, Doom. If I could, I would buy all four, but the reality is that it will be a long time until I pick up LA Noire.
4). The price. $50 is a bitter pill for swallow, even though it has the benefit of portability.
Not every game released is going to be a success, and I sincerely doubt that LA Noire is going to be a hit on Switch.
A retail game is out less than 24 hours and it's declared a flop due to it's unknown eshop sales. This obsession with sales have got to stop.
I totally agree. However, retail should be written as "retail" (with quotation marks), in the case. The cartridge version of LA Noire is just an inefficient download code, sadly.
