Topic: I lost my smash bros cartridge but i found out i can reinstall it on the e-shop

Is it true i can reinstall it without the cartridge? And if i do install it will it ask for my cartridge?

No you can’t… you need the cartridge to open it.

If you had the cartridge originally then you can't redownload it digitally. Are you sure what you're seeing on the e-shop isn't just the DLC?

@Here4NintendoQstns Redownloading games is only available if you bought the game digitally from eshop. For physical cartridge games, if you lose them, you lose them.

So, you have a choice now. You can buy a new cartridge, or buy buy the game digitally on eshop. It doesn't matter which you buy. The switch stores game progress separately on it's internal memory. After you buy the game, your previous game progress will resume.
