Greetings casual gamers, lemme start by saying I own a PS4 & a PS Plus subscription. I love all of the exclusive titles Sony released on the PS4 and I played them and beat them all already. So now they are just collecting dust in my room, I do not intend to replay them ever again. As you know you get "free" games every month from Sony if you have a PS Plus. The games have been laughable, they have been giving us free to play games & 2015 mobile games. So I don't intend to re-new my subscription with those money hungry corporate goblins.

Speaking of goblins I always wanted to play the Zelda games, but all my life I had Sony consoles. Sony is censoring games, they shrink breasts and do other heinous things to games. That is obviously an insult and an insecure self projection on their part. It is also an attack on artistic vision, I wanna play the game the way it was created not the way it looks after Sony's censorship. Now correct me if I am wrong but your games are not censored?

I am going to sell my PS4 & all of my games and buy a Switch that's a sure thing. However I do not like the Switches Joy Cons, they are made for tiny little hands. If I was a smurf it would have been perfect. Interestingly enough I am not, so is it possible to use a PS4 controller on the Switch??

Thanks in advance, I am looking forward to reading your knowledgeable replies!

You seem nice.

Anyway. Yes, with the correct adaptor you can use the ps4 controller.

There's tutorials on YouTube.

@MicroHard You could use a PS4 controller, but of course, the buttons wouldn't match in-game prompts, so you'd have to get used to that, and secondly, the Switch controllers don't have analog triggers, so that's another thing. And last but not least: you wouldn't be able to make use of HD Rumble, because that's exclusive to Nintendo controllers. As an Xbox One owner, I can tell you that it's definitely different and more subtle than your standard rumble/force feedback.

As for having big hands: I don't know how big your hands are, but mine are what most would probably consider average-sized. Having said that, I can understand you feeling the JoyCon controllers being too small too hold, and I also feel like that sometimes (depending on the game type, mostly), but there's also the JoyCon grip, and the JoyCon straps with the extra bits that you can slide on, to either make the separate JoyCon into a full-blown controller, or to make them a bit bigger:

The JoyCon grip comes in the box, as do the straps, so I'd say try these first, to see if you can get used to either of these solutions. The JoyCon grip should be fine, in my opinion. When put together with both of the JoyCon, it's the exact same size as any other controller, and it feels fine. May look a bit weird or boxy, but I assure you it's quite comfortable to hold.

Alternatively, if you're going to invest in a Switch anyway, then why not go all the way, and buy a Switch Pro Controller? Arguably also one of the best controllers ever made, so you could definitely do worse than get one of those...

@Morpheel Hey that is not a bad idea at all @RedderRugfish Not a fan of the layout, it looks like a X-Box controller, but I am open to try it if the adopter thingy has some delayed response or what not? Appreciate the fast responses. Another question, is there a way to communicate with my team member if say I am playing Splatoon 2?

MicroHard

ThanosReXXX

@MicroHard There's no delayed response with the JoyCon grip/adapter. It's literally just a grip, to keep the two separate JoyCon together, but it does nothing to alter the signal.

Don't know anything about Splatoon, so I'll leave that for the others to answer.

@MicroHard P.S.

The layout of the Pro Controller is the exact same as that of the JoyCon controllers, so if you can get used to those, in combination with the JoyCon grip, then you can also get used to the Pro Controller. That's just the standard Nintendo layout, so you're going to have to get used to it anyway if you're going to buy a Switch.

@ThanosReXXX I read on multiple sites how the JoyCons are very fragile & easy to break, just by using them often you increase the chances of it happening. That's 1 of the main reasons why I am turned off by them. Is that 100% true?
You do have a point about getting used to the standard Nintendo layout, I won't rule it out. I want nothing to do with Sony once my PS4 is sold, so using a Nintendo controller would be preferable.
I'll try the Pro controller 1st before getting the adapter, it does look more durable than the JoyCons which is a big plus. The size looks good too, I'll see if I can get used to the layout. Does it vibrate like a PS4 controller??
P.S. I like the quote in your signature. Also Nintendo boobs aren't censored!

MicroHard

ThanosReXXX

@MicroHard On their own, the JoyCon are somewhat fragile, yes. Also depending on how forcefully you'll grip them in your enthusiasm while playing...

But, if you slide them into the grip, they aren't that fragile anymore, and the combined construct just feels like a normal controller. By the way: you don't have to "get" the adapter separately, since it's already in the box with the Switch, when you buy it. The straps I showed you are also in the box. The only thing that is NOT in the box, is the Pro Controller.

So, I'd say try out the grip and/or the straps first, and if you still don't like to use the JoyCon, then you can still buy that Pro Controller. Who knows? If you're okay with using the JoyCon in the grip, you won't have to spend an extra $60 on that Pro Controller after all...

And all Switch controllers vibrate, which is the HD Rumble I mentioned. It's far more refined than on PS4 or Xbox One, and in some games, it REALLY adds to the experience, making it more immersive.

Thanks for the compliment, by the way. And I fully stand by that quote as well, because it's still accurate to this day...

I'm mildly offended.

In any case, why would you discard your PS4? The PS5 launch is still roughly 17 months away. GotY contenders like Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, and Final Fantasy VII Remake will be playable between now and then. Or are waiting until after those games to sell your PS4?

I've owned my Switch since launch, so over 2 years and have yet to use the motion control joy cons more than 3 time just to check it out.. I play it in handheld or with a pro controller when playing on a tv. So very, very few games make you use the detached joy cons and none of the AAA games make you @MicroHard.

@Magician I was also waiting for Code Vein, however after seeing that Sony will censor blood from it(And its a bloody vampire game)I am no longer interested in it.
Same goes for all the games you've mentioned. I looked forward to pre-ordering most of them until I heard that there's a big fat chance that they will all get heavily censored. For example Tifa from FF7 the remake was censored already, they shrunk her boobs. They also censored Devil May Cry, and a whole bunch of other Japanese games.

I've been gaming on Sony's consoles since the PS1 era, but this whole censorship business is unacceptable. I don't need them telling me what I am allowed to look at.
Besides there's no logic buying any of those games for the PS4 since all of them will be out on the PC and the XBOX, uncensored. Plus the Switch has a lot of exclusive games coming out and they look incredible, and uncensored.

If you actually aren't just trolling us, I would discourage you from selling your PS4. In my life I have always regretting selling consoles. Even if I thought I was content and wouldn't play the games again, a time always comes where I think I'd like to pick it back up a few years later.

If a "hardcore gamer" such as yourself hasn't had a single experience that you'd want to revisit across all those games, I actually feel a little sad for you. They must not have been anything special.

The Pro Controller is exactly what you need

@iKhan Ain't nothing wrong with that, I'm sure my 8 year old niece shares your sentiment!
@J-Plap Is there a way to communicate with your teammates in multiplayer switch games? I mean other than the phone app I heard about?

MicroHard

funnyman420

@MicroHard Weeeeell, depends. In Splatoon 2 you're limited to "Booyah!" and "This Way!". In mario maker 2, you've got options like "I'm done for" and "good work". I don't know about any other games. You're better off using Discord.

I would say here unless your getting good money for used PS system don't sell it. Switch is Switch but if you find more games coming Switch and your going more portable then a Switch would work and get a Pro Controller as well. There was a reason why the Joy-Cons were smaller and that was to fit on the Switch when going portable that was by design. But as another poster said if Trolling the backlash will not be happy.

OK, when they start insulting our users and joking about suicide, I think that's the line for a ban.

I don't think this person actually needed any help. Let's move on.
