Topic: How to connect 2 girls on local connection

Hi my daughter and her friend both have mario party. They have joined as friends on the Nintendo switch. They have both tried to create/ join rooms but neither can see each other’s room they created. Please can someone suggest where we are going wrong?

To potentially answer your question; make sure they both have their switches and Mario party updated to the current version. Other than that I can’t think of anything else.

@Amymarioracer I don't have that game, but they need to be joining the same way. The menu structure should be similar, I think. In Mario Kart 8's menu, you have to pick local wirless(the bluetooth function) or online[/strong](internet).

@Amymarioracer If Mario Party is a brand new game for one of the girls, some games don't allow multiplayer until you've gone through the tutorial first, or played a little of the game (weird, but true).

The Party Pad in Super Mario Party allows you to quickly select from different game modes that you have already learned about in the plaza. If you cannot select a game mode from the Party Pad, it is because you have not yet learned about it in the plaza. Explore the plaza and approach the various displays and characters to learn about the different game modes, play them, and complete your Party Pad.

@Blooper987 made a good point above, the girls need to make sure they are running the same version of the game (make sure they have the most current update). On Switch home screen, press (+) on the game tile, select Software Update via internet to get the most recent update.

Oh, don't worry about that ... Plenty of people do run into various 'silly' problems with things on Switch! If you're still having difficulties, the more you can tell us about what you're doing & how, the more likely we are to be able to help
