Switch sales have skyrocketed. The downside is they can't keep up with demand and obvious production issues. But they got a nice boost nonetheless.
Conversely, how many people are going to be able to afford a new gaming system in November) December? How many people who bought a Switch in February-June are even going to want a new system, even if they can afford one?
Timing actually works for Nintendo for a change. If they have a surprise big release like MK9....that could spell trouble for Sony and MSFT
You're assuming new console manufacturing delays will even allow the consoles to launch this year. PS5 / XBSX might be delayed to Holiday 2021 to avoid all this.

Good point. They would be served well to delay for a variety of reasons. Only question is do they wait till spring? Summer? A full year? Interesting times.
Given Sony can't find parts on the cheap right now I doubt they will give any release this year and if the price can't kept low the sales will just be low as well. So there are other factors caused by CV19 that will affect production. If psx can't get under $400 USD expect not many buyers for it and xbox no pricing or if you only get one model at $$$? That will also factor buyers decision as well. How they can't give a figure amount only tells you it will not be cheap to buy. Otherwise why don't they to force competitors to price match but you know they can't that is why.
