Topic: Help! Is it possible to have two profiles playing the CTR:Nitro Fuelled (1 console)

I just bought a nintendo switch for my boys.
I managed to set up a parent account for me and two children accounts for my sons.

They only have one game currently CTR: Nitro Fuelled. When we load it up to play a 2 player game, player 1 is my eldest son's profile. My younger son is "player 2" and I can't seem to work out how to load his profile in.

Is this even possible for this game (they are sharing 1 console) or can only 1 player have their profile loaded?

Thanks for any help received!!

@renragevets On one switch, you can only load one user's game, and then play split screen. So, player two would only have access to what player one has unlocked.

You'd need two Switch consoles if you want each player to be using their own game profile (like you describe). With online races, they can race each other in a private race. (If you had two switch consoles, CTR might support local wireless multiplayer(using bluetooth to connect instead of internet), but I haven't tried it myself).

Thanks so much for your reply, it's really helpful.
I assume this is also true with other games? I am now contemplating buying a second switch console but not really sure if that is worth it. I guess the only benefit to buying two is them both playing as their profile to unlock stuff etc, and essentially being able to have more people playing together as we'd have more controllers. Although I guess I could just buy more controllers for that!?

Thanks

@renragevets Yeah, that's the norm for multiplayer games one console. You can only load the game with one user profile (and access what they've unlocked with progress).

You can buy more controllers for multiplayer. Some games, like Mario Kart 8 allows up to 4 players to play splitscreen on your TV. Not all games support split screen multiplayer. You've got to look at game details to see if a game supports split screen multiplayer, and for how many.

Digital games cannot be shared between two consoles, if your kids want to play at the same time. Physical game cards can be shared, but the game only works when inserted into the console. If your kids want to play their own game at the same time, you will have to buy more than one copy of the game.

Caveat for buying another Switch. Animal Crossing game progress cannot be transferred to another console. At the moment, I think this is the only game with this issue? Nobody likes it, but Nintendo did it to avoid cheating/hacking the game. There are exploits if you can transfer your game between consoles. I don't know how it works, but it's a thing.

Forgive me for blabbing here. I just see this question often, these are the issues or questions that arise.
