At long last!!! ESRB leak was legit! Spring 2023 release… Also on PS4, as previously indicated. Limited edition physical copy of collection & 35th anniversary editions exclusively from Squeenix Store.
Confirmed, and priced a little out of whack. Nonetheless, I'll be buying them separately to soften the blow price wise. And I'll probably only start with 1 or 2 games, and wait for the others to go on sale.
I’m excited as can be for this! Playing Final Fantasy II (IV) on SNES in 1992, my first FF, was one of my most memorable gaming experiences. It really birthed my love of RPGs! I was so disappointed FF V didn’t come stateside, but FF III (VI) more than made up for it! The FF fan I am for over 30 years, I was crushed when Pixel Remasters didn’t come to Switch at first, as I look at FF classic’s home as being Nintendo! So, I was beyond happy to find out about the announcement EARLY this morning! I’d been refreshing my search on Pixel Remasters ALL…. DAY at work (risking getting written up lol), hoping for confirmation of the ESRB rating leak on FF’s 35th anniversary! I went into a frenzy seeing the preorder, and for once didn’t consider financial repercussions lol! There was an error and I thought the order didn’t go through! I must’ve been one of the last ones to get a physical copy, as it showed zero stock when I tried again to place the order. I was resigned to digital copy when I checked my email and got an ORDER CONFIRMATION!!!! FF victory jingle 😃 I jumped on to go ahead and put the funds through, so one doesn’t get snatched lol!
I am deeply concerned with a company as big as Squeenix making physical copies so limited edition, though. I fear for the death of physical media, and all the problems that it will bring… 😧

This is probably what I'm going to do as well. FF7-12 seem to go on sale multiple times every year so I'd imagine it shouldn't be too long for FF1-6 to go on sale
Since the standard edition is on waiting list, I went ahead and threw the $300 (tax & shipping) down on the Anniversary Edition. I have enough love for those first six games to pull the trigger.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)
I went ahead and signed up for email notifications for the standard edition, but I'm not sure if I'll jump for it. $75 seems fairly steep, plus I can already access both IV and VI. I'd be getting the entire collection more for the other four, and the only one I'm really hurting to try is V since it seems fairly beloved.
...It seems that this stuff usually goes up when I'm working or sleeping. Why am I an adult again?
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
@NintendoByNature IV is my personal favorite, I like the characters and laser-focus on job classes being tied to those characters. While VI has the best antagonist in the series. Better than Sephiroth. The madman himself, Kefka.
Think I'm finally going to bite on FF as a series thanks to this collection, very much looking forward to playing these games for the first time. And they give us the option of all-in-one or individually? That's very cool.
Though I may hold off on this due to a certain Atlus-shaped teddy bear in the room coming out beforehand.....
Another aspect I didn’t mention is that, while we got Final Fantasy V Advance for GBA, I this kinda feels like FF V’s first Nintendo CONSOLE release in North America… Over 30 years after I first remember reading about it in GamePro magazine! Unless you want to count being able to play it on GameCube, via Game Boy Player lol! It blows my mind that so much of Final Fantasy’s history will be available on Switch! Feels so right as a longtime Ninty fangirl! 😃💖
