Topic: Copying games from 2 memory cards on 1 card

Hi.
I have a 512gb card and a 200gb card full of games. I have now bought a 1tb card so I can get all my games onto 1 memory card.
I know you can copy games from 1 card to another, however I wish to copy all games from 2 memory cards on to 1 new card, is this possible? And if so how would I go about doing it. It would save a hell of a lot of time not having to download all the games again as my Internet is very slow and it will take weeks. If any one could help that would be great.
Thanks for your time.

@DAB1 Can you? I would think nintendo's anti-piracy may reject your card if games from another card were pasted onto it.

As it is, if you upgrade to a new switch (transfer from one switch to another), Nintendo's system will not allow you bring your games to the new switch via micro sd card. (I know you're not transfering consoles, though. I think you could do that with the 3ds system, but the switch's anti piracy has more restricted protocols). I had a 400gb micro sd on my launch switch and upgraded to an OLED in december. Transferring to a new switch requires that you redownload all your games - I couln't find a way around it, and others here have had the same experience. Yes, it sounds like a ridiculous, mountainous task to redownload that much. I felt the same way, but you can redownload a lot over night while the switch is in sleep mode. I think I downloaded most of my games over two nights. Once I had the bulk of my favorite games downloaded the first night, the annoyance I felt for having to redownload my games had mostly gone away.

On eshop, select your user icon (upper right) to open your eshop account page, then select the Redownload tab, and you can check the boxes of all the games on the list that you want to redownload, and the switch will then start redownloading all of them. You can leave the switch in sleep mode over night, or for the day. Over night may have steadier download speeds due to less server traffic? That's the feeling I've gotten, I don't know it as fact, though.

I think the only thing you can copy & paste from one card to another is your Album folder containing screenshots & clips. If anyone knows otherwise, please share below.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I explained myself properly. When you upgrade your memory card (not console) you can transfer your games from your old card to your new one. There's plenty of tutorials online and even on the official nintendo site. My query was that I have 2 memory cards full of games, both linked to my console and nintendo account (not from 2 different consoles or accounts). I was wondering if I could copy the games from both memory cards to my new 1tb card, as you are able to move over 1 card to another. And unfortunately my Internet connection is so poor, that even at night it would take me a long time to down load that many games.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

@DAB1 Sorry if I made you retype your situation. Generally speaking, tech questions don't get a lot of attention in here. So, that's why I tried to answer. Often this type of stuff is ignored, or gets unserious answers.

Since switch launch, I've never seen anyone in here discuss combining games from two cards for the switch, or seen that topic covered anywhere outside of here. It's a very sensible thing to want, but switch anti-piracy protocols are so strict for this console generation, I won't be shocked if the switch rejects your micro sd card if you've tried combining game content folders from two cards. You own the games, both cards are for one console, but I think the switch will reject the card if you tried. When I say "reject", I mean the switch will say you need to "reformat" that card, and won't let you do anything else with the card.

If anyone knows better, by all means, chime in.

Thanks again for your reply. I agree, I couldn't find anything about anyone combining 2 cards which is why I thought I'd better ask before trying it.
What you've said makes a lot of sense and I would imagine it is probably correct, so I don't think I'll bother trying to do both cards and just make sure I copy over the 512gb card only, which will mean I only have to re-download 200gb's worth of games.
I really do appreciate your help as you may well have saved me many hours of copying for it not to work, so thanks again 👍

Are both of those cards formatted on the same Switch? I could be you could format the new card and just copy the data over but don't overwrite the new card Switch folders. Maybe that might work. Otherwise you need to contact Nintendo Support and ask them this question since they would know more on this.
