After having put 75 hours in The Grisaia Trilogy, I'm ready to set the rest of that story aside and start up a different one. Now...I'm a fan of VA-11 Hall-A. Coffee Talk's gameplay appears to be in a similar vein to that, plus it has received a fair amount of praise. So I'm eager to get after it today.

It definitely feels very similar to VA-11 HALL-A in how it plays. I don't think it's anywhere near as good but it's still enjoyable enough. It's on the short side so it's a good game to just pick up and play from start to end in a day in between other games.

@BenAV

I played the first couple days, so far I like it. Somebody on the development team is a fan of the movie Daybreakers. Talk of viruses, synthetic blood, suggestions of mixing blood with coffee, etc. Pretty cool, I'm curious to see where this story is going.

On day twelve now. It's really nice to play a visual novel whose source material doesn't come from a manga or isn't manga-theme in its art style. The Daybreakers comparison I previously made doesn't hold water at this point in the story. Because now we've got non-terrestrial folk in the mix.

I really appreciate how strong each character is written in this game. If you've played enough visual novels, it's fairly easy to telegraph how a character's story arc will flow. But here I haven't accurately guessed at a single character's motivation, wants, or desires. Experiencing a vn that is devoid of the usual vn tropes is refreshing.

@Magician You'll also get to have differents payoffs depending on what drink you served.. I just love this game...

I like it, the characters are really sweet and I enjoy how they're written. It's a nice vibe. Super chill. The auto-play feature is actually nice, too, although I wish you could adjust the speed.

But holy crap, it's way longer than I expected it to be. I'm not sure why the average time on howlongtobeat is only about 3:30, I feel like I've spent a lot more time than that already. I'm much more a fan of shorter games, especially narrative ones like this, so it's starting to feel ever-so-slightly like a drag to me right now. Maybe I'm actually closer to the end than it feels... I'm sure I'll finish it.

Anyway, I'd highly recommend picking it up, it's just a great time.

Ah, seems I was closer to the end than I was expecting, I rolled the credits this morning. It felt like an abrupt ending, which is good. It isn't quite a new game plus situation, but the game encourages you to play it multiple times to experience all the story elements. Well then on to the next game, River City Girls, but I'm really looking forward to coming back to this at some point.
