Topic: Can't play downloaded game, used to have game cartridge, now I have the full download

Question you Nintendo Switch users. Our dog decided to eat one of my son's game cartridges, so I went and re-purchased the the game as a download. I redeemed the game code and it installed. However, whenever I go to open the game the system asks me to install the game cartridge. I assume this is because I used to have the game cartridge, but now I purchased the entire game as a download.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks!

I’d honestly be more worried about the dog. I don’t have experience with it, but eating circuits doesn’t seem ideal.

Yes - dog is fine, he chewed it up and spit it out, so he's all good... Thanks!

This isn’t a great answer, but contacting Nintendo would be the best thing to do. No one knows more about the Switch than they do, so they might be able to fix the problem easily if you send it to them.

Buy another cartridge, problem solved.

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

@DexterXPS at the home screen, over on the game icon press the + button and delete software then redownload the game on the eshop. It should now work as normal.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@1UP — it worked, thank you!
