Hello!
Nearly 6 year old son wants to be a bus driver when he's older. He loves them!
He has a nintendo switch and I'd like to get him a bus simulator game but I'm unsure what to get him! Please help!!
He has the plastic steering wheel to fit a joy con into but I've seen table top steering wheels, could this also be an option to make it more like he's actually driving a bus?
Thank you in advance for your help!
@BusGeek I personally don't know anyone that uses a steering wheel for games. My brother got a steering wheel for xbox to play forza(xbox's flagship racing game), but it was always such a hassle to set up the wheel, some mount to a table, (and find a place to store a bulky steering wheel is another issue), and we could always play a racing/driving game better with a regular controller than with the steering wheel. So, a steering wheel for us turned out to be short lived novelty.
Regarding bus games. I don't know enough to recommend one, but I am aware eshop is awash with many same-y, generic looking drivng simulator games. Gameplay footage for "Bus Simulator 22" on youtube looks a bit advance for a six year old. So be aware the bus driving game market may skew toward teen/adult skill level.
As far as kid-friendly free-roaming fun goes on the Switch, I'd recommend looking into Lego City Undercover, which also happens to frequently go on sale for $5.99. The game has an adventure/mission structure in the towns, but you can also take any car you want and drive around. I'm not sure it's a game you'll be interested in, but it is a good game that happens to have driving around a town. So, you may want to check out a video review on youtube. nintendolife, ign, etc all have video reviews.
Can taxi chaos be played with a table top steering wheel? I think he'd really like "driving" with a table wheel.
That lego game hes not massively into lego, but can you just drive around without missions on it as I think he'd enjoy that?! To be honest I like the look of it for me, I used to love gta!!!
@BusGeek I bought Lego City Undercover on sale so I had it, in case my nieces visited. I'm not into the Lego games, but this entry is pretty fun, and I ended up playing about 75% of the story mode for Lego City Undercover.
Q: Can you drive around without missions?
A: It's structured like GTA. Short answer, yes. I think you can take a car after the opening cutscenes and after you complete the first mission or two, which take place at the police station.
