I would like to ask the NL community for help in identifying any potential risk to my Switch by using a USB-C to USB Adapter made by Anker with my Nintendo Switch.
Edit: I have also emailed [email protected] - SEE THEIR RESPONSE BELOW
There have been a lot of stories over the past couple of months about how third-party cables can brick your Switch following the 5.0 firmware update. So understandably I'm anxious to find out before I start using the cable.
I need the USB-C to USB Adapter in order to connect my HORI Arcade Stick for Switch to my undocked Switch in order to play using it in table-top mode.
The HORI Arcade Stick has a fixed USB cable and is primarily designed to be connected to the Switch dock via USB.
I have read something about 56k OHM resistors being essential for USB-C to USB A cables for charging. I am not trying to charge the Switch in any way. I am merely trying to use this Anker cable (Model number: A8165011) as an adapter in order to plug the Arcade Stick into it and then this cable into the Switch tablet undocked. Would this mean I don't need to worry about whether this cable has an 56K OHM resistor or not? It is a very short cable 5 inches in length.
Any advice on this would be immensely useful and appreciated.
Bottom line Is this one safe to use or should I return this cable and order a different one that lists 56k OHM resistor in the specs? (any links to such a product would be a great help).
@Heavyarms55 I'm not trying to charge the Switch though?
I've not seen these posts? The article about USB-C cables bricking Switches on this site states all cables should have a 56k OHM transistor or something?
I'm not savvy with this tech stuff, hence why I'm asking for help. Thanks for reading and replying though.

@Lroy Ah, sorry, I skimmed over too quickly. My bad. But the bricking issue as I have understood it, is directly related to charging. So it should be fine. However I cannot say for absolute certainty as I am no expert.

@Therad That is what I was hoping but being a Luddite and a worrier βΊοΈ I was confused as to whether the HORI Arcade Stick would somehow transfer power/draw power from the Switch via this cable and hence still be a potential bricking risk.

UPDATE: I got an email back from Anker and they had this too say:
"Please know this USB-C to USB 3.1 Adapter has a 5.1K Ohm resistor, it doesn't have a 56K Ohm resistor. In this case, we may suggest you return it back. All our C to A cables have a 56K Ohm resistor, like the following link to the one for your reference. But the connector on this cable is a USB A male connector while the one on the adapter you've purchased is a USB A Female, I don't know whether the C to A cable could satisfy with your demand."
This is the cable they recommended: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E9W8KYC This is not an adapter and therefore WON'T work for connecting my HORI Arcade Stick to the Switch for Table-Top play. ARRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
