i am currently playing AC on the family switch via my sons account(he Purchased it for his switch lite but he uses family switch as secondary). when he is playing it on his Lite i know i get kicked off so i am looking to purchase my own copy for the family switch and play it via my own login. My question is, will i lose all my data and have to start again? i have invested a lot of hours lol?
@Jasperistops So, you'll be making both consoles "primary" consoles. Unfortunately, with Animal Crossing New Horizons, game progress cannot be transferred to another switch console. Yeah, it's disappointing people all over. About once a week someone asks/posts/discovers this headache. They really need to put a flashing neon sign on the game to warn people. I think it's in the fine print details on eshop & game cases, though, but very easy to miss because, most games don't have this issue. Nintendo did it to try to prevent hacking/cheating in the game.
hi, thanks for the reply.
my save data wont be transferred to another console, it is the same console but a different user account but the account im currently playing it on is a different email address
Hmm I have to admit, for that scenario, you've stumped me. I don't know the outcome. You might be ok. I've never heard of people losing data when changing the Primary & non-Primary. By all means, please let us know how it turns out. I'd would recommend calling Nintendo's customer support line, it's good. And, it could still be running.
@WoomyNNYes thanks, I want to buy another copy of the game but i dont want to start all over again and dont really want to spend another £40 finding out if my data will be accessible on my own login. Anyone help will be greatly appreciated
@Jasperistops Everyone here typically talks about buying a brand new console. So, your scenario is not familiar territory for me(taking over a shared secondary console and making it primary console for one person) Logically, I think you could be ok, I just don't know everything about how Nintendo manages copyright & anti-hacking. You can see @BruceCM above is a little hesitant with his answer, too. And I don't want to risk your game progress either. Someone else might chime in here, but if you want confident info, I would call Nintendo. They're actually good. I've called them a few times myself, and been pleased. I pasted their number in a previous comment.
all lines are closed to nintendo UK so i have dropped them an email. @BruceCM thanks, i get the logic but i dont know how the game data is saved and if i have access to the save data from other logins
Yeah, it's hardly something I've had cause to test personally & it's not the 'usual' situations that are clearly covered by definite answers anywhere, @WoomyNNYes .... Let us know what the answer is please, @Jasperistops
Right fellas, I took the plunge and bought another copy and logged in with my primary account. I had to start a new character on same island as my existing one on the console. My problem now is I want to delete my old character but it tells me the island will be deleted. Is there now a way around this?
