Seeing a lot of people enjoying/playing early access of Foamstars, plus streams of Palworld are really fun to watch! Highly reccom for PC! The hate from Splatoon and Pokemon fans is very sad and toxic. Really hoping these get ported over in the next console.
@Vivianeat I mean... there was an article here about Palworld the other day and a lot of the comments were positive or neutral so I'm not really seeing the hate. A lot of people who bought it are in fact Pokemon fans. Saying that Palworld 100% copied some of the Pokemon designs? That part is just a fact. And maybe the lawyers will argue about it or maybe they won't. But the gameplay is certainly different. And the 'Pokemon with guns' slogan is just a meme. I'm sure you can find hate if you go looking for it, but it's the Internet so that is true with any topic. That said, the degree they copied a few of the designs is remarkably blatant so it's something to note although I don't see a reason to really be upset about it.
As for Foamstars, isn't it a PS4/PS5 exclusive? Seems unlikely it will come to Switch 2. I guess we don't know for sure if the exclusivity is permanent, but it might be.
Yeah, I don't think Nintendo will need any help from the likes of us if there's any suggestion of copyright or trademark infringement.
Assuming otherwise, all they'd have to do is pass basic QA and get rated by the ESRB. It's not like there's any signs of curation going on at the eShop, going by all the shovelware on it.
Foam stars uses ai art and deserves any hate it gets
I mean... "In terms of the content in the game, this makes up about 0.01 % or even less, but we have dabbled in it by creating these icons in the game."
I can forgive them randomly experimenting with some AI icons when it is a miniscule amount of the game. It was probably like one random person on the team who thought it was neat.
That said, I suppose complaining about AI is more justified then complaining that the game is in the same subgenre as Splatoon. 😝
I’m all for Palword. I feel like Nintendo should treat Game Freak like a pet/the middle child by spraying them with water and point to Scarlett and Violet whilst calling them a bad dog and then ask why can’t they be more like the Palword makers.
I personally enjoy playing video games that are good video games rather than purely based on my opinion about an irrelevant online backlash to one but ok.
though while we're suggesting games to Switch 2 that have gotten really annoying backlashes from stupid people, Guilty Gear Strive plz
@FishyS Ya the recent article had great replies but a previous one NL wrote fueled "get them to hate" vibes. NL flipped and now their articles are praising it lol. Most hate I've been seeing are on YT, IG, and Twitter.
I can't wait for Foamstars! A cousin of mine only has a PS5 and wants me to play with him when the game's out, so I'm hype. I'm honestly not into Splatoon as much anymore, it just feels the same for me. The open beta Foamstars hooked me in. It always feels like a Splatfest event, which I love. Palworld is just insane and I'm enjoying it too much! I feel like this could pass as a Digimon game xD.
@kkslider5552000 Guilty Gear Strive was the first GG game I've ever played! Would love to see it ported over!
I wouldn't doubt a attempt to put it on Switch 2 happens and so far Nintendo Ninja hasn't batted a homerun yet. But if they get too close they might get a notice to not go that route but if they keep it different enough then they might pass mustard.
Just wanted to mention this if no one else mentioned yet!: Foamstars are Playstation Exclusive game, so not yet planned outside Playstation! Palworld is already planned as Multi-Platform game and is still in Early Access on PC & Xbox while Early Releases for Games are only supported atm at PC & Xbox to begin with!

https://www.change.org/p/anmtvla-pokemonlatam-español-latino-en-los-juegos-de-pokémon - let's help this petition for Latin American Spanish be add to Pokémon games and with that may increase chance that in future Pokémon games adds more languages. :)
I think Foamstars looks cool, but I don’t think it will take off bc that’s just not the type of game that seems to do well on PlayStation. Granted, maybe it will be different bc it’s somewhat of an online shooter, rather than a Ratchet & Clack or Sackboy type game.
You know, I didn't pay much attention to this thing because I'm not really one to follow "viral gaming news" and whatnot. But I had a quick look at the DF performance rundown of Palworld this morning and..... wow....
Now I'm no fan of GameFreak recent efforts and I'm not at all a fan of how trigger happy Nintendo often are with things like fan projects, lets plays etc, etc. But I think Nintendo/GameFreak are well within their rights to be lawyering up here. This isn't just a passing resemblance or somewhat of a similar concept. It's not like it's some kind of parody or making a commentary on Pokemon. They just straight up copied Legends Arceus
I mean, I'm all for fair use. I think a lot of companies are often too protective of their IP. But fundamentally there is a reason why IP protection exists and at its core it's not a bad idea. It's just a question of where that line is. Palworld goes so far beyond that line it's like.... I don't know how you could defend this....
They knew exactly what they were doing

@skywake I fail to see how they copied Legends honestly. Other than having goals to make it to where people want to capture multiples of the same monster, and pretty much just the circular box icons along with overworld catching. The game is much more of a copy of ARK Survival Evolved than it is of Legends Arceus, given every mechanic down to the base building was effectively lifted from ARK.
I guess you could also say "Well, you craft things including the capture devices!" but.. that's mainly because this game is also a survival game. It feels like it goes a bit more in depth with the survival mechanics than something like Legends does.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight
It's pretty blatantly copying significant visual elements, character designs and core gameplay. And if it wasn't as close as it is nobody would care about it

@skywake The monster designs take blatant inspiration from pokemon, bordering upon copying, yeah. The only UI design copying pokemon directly though is a circular icon with a pal’s picture in them. Unless Palworld ripped official pokemon models, which is the accusation that gamefreak is looking into, they can’t really sue given the designs aren’t one for one direct copies of existing mon. A lot of them have elements of multiple pokemon designs fused together pretty much, which makes them more legally distinct.
Nothing though feels like it rips off PLA directly though. Dunno why you brought that up over hust saying pokemon as a whole.
Honestly I would love to see foamstars and palworld get a switch release.
Honestly the people saying that palworld are ripping off people apparently forgot that the game is supposed to be a parody of monster catching games.
@VoidofLight Honestly I kind of doubt Shin Megami Tensei inspired Pokemon. They're far too different and are for completely different markets. I think they share more coincidences than similarities.
