Topic: A helpful (probably) tip to those experiencing slow downloads

I was trying to download Storm Trilogy last night (the 256gb micro sd card I ordered arrived yesterday) but the download speed was insanely slow. According to my Switch, it would take 14 hours to fully download the game, which doesn't make any sort of sense given that I have a fast internet connection. So what I did, after looking up countless of topics regarding switch's and slow download speed, I reformatted my sd card via the switch's built in formatter and poof the 14 hour download timer for Storm Trilogy turned into 1 hour.

@link-the-volnutt A faster micro sd card format for the Switch, is something we'd all like. But with the Switch & micro sd formats, I think it either works, or it doesn't. As far as I know, Switch download speed depends on your internet connection & server traffic. Since I've got a good connecton, I've always just assumed slow downloads are server traffic related.

Every once in a while I get a slow download, and trying again later has got me faster speeds. I've also rebooted to re-establish the Switch's connection, but I don't recall the results. Sometimes, I just start the download & put the Switch to sleep. Sleep download speeds are just as fast as when the Switch is powered on (handy if you want to walk away).

I think that is related as mentioned to your ISP and internet connections not a Switch or MicroSD issues. Most SD cards should be at least x10 version when you start to get bigger cards. Also if your heavy ISP user then the ISP can be Throttling your internet as well. So that makes a difference if your own a data plan go over and they will throttle your internet access.
