Hey y'all. It's a tad silly but I purchased a Switch 2 at launch mainly for the Gamecube NSO expansion pack. I didn't have a Gamecube when I was little but I did have a Wii that was compatible with Gamecube games. I used to buy used GC games to play on the Wii like DoubleDash, Sunshine, and Luigi's Mansion (big Mario kid).

Now, I am kinda bummed that September didn't see a Gamecube addition. The GC releases are all I'm interested in rn since nothing new that's been announced I'm interested in except Tomodachi in the spring. I was expecting something in September because I saw a lot of discourse online saying "Yeah, Nintendo will add a GC game once a month."

Now, I think October we're definitely going to get something for GC. I'm thinking it's Luigi's Mansion because Halloween is coming up.

If so, I'm super stoked. I juiced that game to a pulp when I was little. Beat it God knows how many times. I even bought the 3DS version right before the eShop closed.

I've played through both sequels but in my opinion the first has always been best. The atmosphere takes the cake on it completely — feels like a real borderline horror game, Nintendo would never do anything similar since. Obviously there's a nostalgia aspect to that too, though I did get LM2 in 3rd grade but I was let down with some of it. LM3 was so much better, really fun game and kinda recreated some of the charm of the first, but still a bit too goofy for me (and the cat sequence was dumb).

So anyways, do you guys think it's going to be LM this coming month? What are your thoughts on the game? If not, what would it be?

The NSO release happening in October is entirely possible, but it's still best to temper any expectations - there have been multiple occasions where Nintendo missed out on/didn't care about doing certain releases or announcements on what would have been the "perfect" day.

Anyway, I like the game just fine, even if I'm not sure if it was the best pick as the main first-party release of the Gamecube's launch - it's an amazing visual show, but a bit short for the time and with a type of gameplay not everyone expected or wanted. But it's still good, and it has a spooky atmosphere that helps it stand out from the equally decent sequels.

I mean, it has to happen at some point, especially since I'm sure Nintendo knew they were going to do it when just releasing Luigi's Mansion 2 as an HD port instead of just both.
