Guys I have played about 8 hours of cai's route and I'm struggling so far to recruit any characters, please could anyone give me advice of how to increase renown, in previous fire emblem games I didn't have this issue,
[quote=mishima]@Polvasti It appears as if they're doing an ethnicity thing based on the fake countries in game being very similar to real world ones. It appears they decided to make those dressed as Chinese to represent the people of the egg. Dagda is Rome, there seems to be a Spanish analogy. Fodlan is cast as the Vatican in keeping with 3H.
I just want to say to those who are attacking me for having an opinion that isn't lining up.
If the game isn't showing me how to do stuff 20 hours in, isn't that a fault with the game?
The game shows you enough to know how to play. I've been playing for 10 hours now (just got the achievement), and I'm still getting tutorials and unlocking things to do. You must have either been skipping them, or you can't bother to figure out what you're wanting to do with your party, or how you're wanting to spend the free-time that the game grants you.
Just because I am being critical doesn't mean I'm trolling. I am a big fan of tactics games and I loved 3H and this game isn't doing the same.
You can criticize games. No one is saying you can't. The issue is that the way you're presenting your criticism, along with the things that you're complaining about comes across as disingenuous. Most of it feels like you don't understand any of the systems of the game in the slightest, or that you were searching for a carbon copy of Three Houses.
I didn't even touch on how swiss cheese the story is. Game keeps dropping you in days later and people are mid conversation and their development happens off screen. In 3H it actually feels like people slowly open up.
Dude. You're complaining about not seeing the perspective of other characters when you're playing on a single route out of four. You're not going to see the development of the lords that you didn't choose, because you're in the head of one of the other lords. I'm doing Dietrich's route right now, and I'm currently at Chapter 5. The development of the characters in his party hasn't happened off screen at all. In fact, the next objective for the story is literally going to give one of his party members more character development.
Another thing as well, is that you should probably be talking to everyone you come across whenever you head back to the capital city. There's times where you talk to a party member, and they go off to do something else. If you follow them, you unlock a scene that you can stumble upon in the city that expands on the character and their relation to others in the game/others in other factions. Sort of similar to Support ranks, without being a support rank.
I'm sorry that game was better because Persona plus Fire Emblem is more polished.
More polished? I can understand that people like what they like, and that some games will resonate with others for other reasons. I could understand if you just left it as "I liked Three Houses more, and I don't really enjoy this game." However- this is just delusion to say? Like, what version of Three Houses did you play that was far more polished? That game was a mess, and I've mentioned why in multiple posts that I don't think you really bothered to read? The routes were rushed, there's a lack of cutscenes in the game, the story falls apart at the seams if you hold it under scrutiny for more than a minute. Characters are inconsistently written from route to route. The game has literal cut features in its code, because IS was overly ambitious with it. Map design was abysmal save for one single map at the end of each route (and specifically the map at the end of the Golden Deer route). This isn't even getting into how unpolished the visuals were- which makes modern Pokemon games look better by virtue. Like you have serious nostalgia goggles on if you think that Three Houses was a far more polished game.
Also as for it being like Persona, Three Houses was hardly anything like Persona gameplay-wise. Fortune's Weave has more akin to Persona compared to Three Houses- given that there's actual time management in Fortune's Weave. With Three Houses, you basically only get one single day a week to do anything, and the rest of the game is pretty much just watching a menu skip past. Fortune's Weave lets you actually do multiple things every single week rather than having to pick between "Do I want to battle, rest, or explore." There's less sitting behind menus and more active decision making- which ironically turns the out-of-battle stuff into an actual strategic decision in it's own right. It's far more fleshed out, and I don't understand why you believe Three Houses wasn't underbaked in this way.
Everyone is welcome to their opinion and I am as well. I'm very disappointed. I would hope that people understand that. This feels like The Last Jedi to me.
Ah yes, how could this game kill your wife and children! The horror!

Anyways, would anyone be able to teach me how to read stats? I'm having trouble kind of picking what I want my units to be and have them align with their base stats for classes. There's a lot of options, and I'm scared I'm going to end up picking the worst classes that make maps harder for me as a result.
