Topic: Tips for formatting messages

Hi there,

Probably time I updated this information. Generally speaking, we support most classic BBcodes on our forum/comments; some useful tips are:

Format Text:
[b]Bold Text[/b] or [i]Italic Text[/i] or [del]Deleted Text[/del]

Links:
[url]https://google.com[/url] or [url=https://www.google.com]an example link[/url]

Spoilers:
[spoiler]Your spoiler text in here[/spoiler]

Images:
[img]https://link.to/image.jpg[/img]

Embed YouTube, Tweets etc:
Just enter the URL of the content on a new paragraph.

Quotes:
Click the 'Quote' button or use [quote]your quoted text here[/quote]

I'll add any new ones here going forward... and yes, we'll likely move to a WYSIWYG style editor one day in the future

It'd be even handier to have a link to a guide for formatting messages under the comment box found on articles and topics, alongside the "Please read our Community Rules" link.
Might be a bit busy though.

Using * in place of [ b ] tags for bold all dayyyyy.🌈🌈

It's handy as heck with so few key strokes, and harder to screw up. It's the only shortcut formatting tag I know of, though.

Took me until I found this topic to realize I needed to use [del] instead of [strike]. Bookmarking for future reference.

There's also [ sub] [ /sub] for _subscript text

@WoomyNNYes you can use underscore in the same way for italics

Neat, I wasn't aware there was subscript support.
If that's supported, then [ sup] [ /sup] should support ^superscript text.

There's more like [ code] or [ pre] that you can use for fixed-width font displays.
If you know or can look up BBCode formats from other places there's a chance they'll work here.

This is what code text looks like, intended for previewing code e.g. <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com">Nintendo Life</a>.

This is pre-formatted text, it might be the same?
