Power Metal, my favorite band is Masterplan (with Lande at the mic). And i also like Royal Hunt, Nightwish, within Temptation, Whitesnake, europe, sabaton, Dio,
I like Alternative music, though, I mainly listen to bands from Norway, like Pony the Pirate, Datarock, Heroes & Zeros, and Superfamily. I also like Gorillaz, The Go! Team, Cake, and Beck.
Besides Alternative, I also enjoy Pop and Dance (like Junior Senior and Alphabeat), Electronic, (Mainly Justice, though, I also enjoy Danger and some Daft Punk), and some Ska (Currently only The Aquabats).
I don't know how to answer this question because I listen to so many different genres so I'm going to list to the top 5 albums that influence me the most creatively.
I can find stuff I like from most genres, but I tend to like punk and indie rock the best. However, I'm a big fan of 60s and 70s pop/rock/folk (I grew up listening to it via my dad) and have been heard listening to hip hop and metal at different stages of my life.
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
I enjoy most types of music but I don't like country and rap and I hate death metal and screamo and I absolutely loathe the complete trash that is called dubstep. Most of the time though, I listen to videogame music, Jpop/Jrock and vocaloids. I'm starting to listen to English music a bit more now though, especially after realising how much I love One direction.

Basically this, but minus the one direction part. Also I don't like Jazz that much.

Many styles of rock, including punk, hard rock, metal, etc. I prefer music without effeminate males singing (screamo), I need some power. Stuff like Metallica, Queensryche, Volbeat. Powerful singers like that. I hate basic stuff like contemporary rock that's just four power chords repeated over and over with the most basic strumming pattern. I like some extreme metal for the powerfulness of its sound, especially with good headphones. Some metalcore is good as long as it doesn't venture into the girly screamo territory. I also love music with good drummers. And the Temptations and Michael Jackson. And Johnny Cash.
I listen to music more for the actual music, not for lyrics. It's not poetry, I don't care what they are saying, I just care how it's sung. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate good lyrics though, Pete Loeffler of Chevelle has an amazing writing style, and an amazing voice.
Lots of censorship here...

I feel like my taste in music springs from two fountains of American 20th century music. At an early age I felt drawn to Blues based music, and now very much believe that the I IV V based changes are universal and ingrained in the human experience. This has grown more directly into an appreciation of Jazz particularly in the bop and post bop eras especially as I began to study music. When I came of age I feel in love with the music of R.E.M.. Through an exploration of that I became fixed on all music of a sort of post Velvet Underground variety. I'm very attached to the artist associated with 80s and 90s college radio ie Camper Van Beethoven, They Might Be Giants, Robyn Hitchcock, ect and 1970s Britsih Glam Rock ie David Bowie, Lou Reed, T.Rex.
In the 21 century I love Nerdcore Hiphop. Big fan of Mc Frontalot and Crudbump. Anyone here into nerdcore?
