Just picked up Persona 5 Royal on Steam. Played about 2 hours so far, so haven't experienced too much yet. Really good first impression, though. The art style is phenomenal and I love how stylistic everything is. The music is awesome, too.

Apologies for the double post, but I wanted to mention that I'm playing Sonic Superstars. Got this from the eShop sale and this happens to be the first game I've played in 2024 that's brand new to me. It's a pretty decent Sonic game. Finished four zones as of this post and I also got four of the Chaos Emeralds.

Welp... Persona 5 Royal has officially sunk its teeth into me. I'm about 20 hours in and just finished the Madarame arc. It's gone by so fast though, it only feels like I've played a few hours of it. The gameplay is insanely addicting. Everything from the social elements to the fluid combat to the exploration of Tokyo is awesome.
So far all of the characters have been amazing too. My favorite as of now is probably Ryuji thanks to his personality and backstory. His VA is amazing too, the voice actor seriously gave an 11/10 performance with him.
I gotta say, if this game keeps me hooked all the way through, I'm seriously gonna consider getting P3 Reload when it comes out. That remake looks amazing and a lot of stuff like the combat looks in line with 5, which is nice.

Played more of Sonic Superstars last night, and I also came back to Super Mario RPG. I should probably focus on SMRPG so I can still retain the attack timings, lol. Also playing through the Mega Man Battle Network series since I got the Legacy Collection on sale.

Started up Castlevania III (or to be more specific, the original Akumajou Densetsu Famicom release), played for about an hour and good lord people weren't kidding: this is an INSANE improvement over the first couple games so far! It goes back to the more traditional platformer-based gameplay of the first game (a very welcome return after the mess that was Simon's Quest XD) and refines pretty much everything to a sheen: the level design is more interesting, the level themes are far more vibrant, varied and dynamic and, in what is easily the best change by far, YOU CAN ATTACK ON LADDERS OH THANK THE LORD. This isn't even to mention the extra characters which provide a bonkers amount of utility at the cost of immense frailty in combat, which adds a great wrinkle to the already much improved gameplay. Oh and you can't forget the jams on display here as well which are also as fantastic as ever (fun fact: pretty much the sole reason I went with the OG Famicom release is because it has a better OST thanks to the extra sound channel XD).
It may have taken a heck of a while for it to happen but unless it fumbles the bag from here on, Castlevania III has been a wonderful time thus far 😊

@Fizza Castlevania III is awesome. It's amazing how Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy and Castlevania all basically did the same thing where the 2nd game was some weird experiment and then the 3rd game is the sequel everyone wanted.
Though IIRC, the Japanese version of Castlevania III is actually easier. Which is good because the American version is pretty brutal to the point that I've never beaten it.
@kkslider5552000 That was actually another reason I chose the OG Famicom release: after having to deal with the BS the first three titles in the series would throw at me (CV1 less so but still), I decided I'd had enough and wanted a slightly more breezy experience as a result. Emphasis on the slightly though as CV3 is still very challenging from the 7 or so stages I've played of it so far (though thankfully nowhere near as seemingly unwinnable as the games that came before it).

I just beat Super Mario Bros. Wonder. I started it on 12/25 and got the credits to roll with my first medal tonight on 1/7. Tomorrow, I will go back to find the 2 levels I missed in the game plus Special World (I purposefully left Special for the post game even though I unlocked them along the way.)
910… Was a fun time, really, I loved the chaos and the chorus, the whimsy, the fanfare, and all the charm! It could be described as any of the words from the 8 Special World levels in SMW (tubular, gnarly, funky, etc.).
But did anyone else find it somewhat easy? A least to the point of getting the credits to roll? I see those 5 star difficult levels awaiting me in Special…
Got a PS5 recently so I'm playing Spider-Man 2 and it's pretty good. I'm also playing rocket league and have almost beaten astro's playroom

Playing "The Last Faith" on Steamdeck... sort of like Castlevania meets Bloodborne (but nowhere near as good as either!)
It is a solid enough Metroidvania, but I'm judging it somewhat harsher due to having played the EXCELLENT Blasphemous 2 earlier this year. If you enjoy MVs/Souls games then "The Last Faith" is worth a run, but it is certainly not at the top of its class.
Looks like I'm almost done with Super Mario RPG. I'm planning on playing Splatoon 3 sometime soon, I have yet to pick my Splatfest team... I did say I was gonna pick Family, but I'm also considering Solo since that's how I spend most of the major holidays anyway.

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare on the PS4. I'm pleasantly surprised at how incredible the game is. It feels great, and it looks great. It's way better than that god-awful WW2 game released soon after.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
@MarioLover92 I loved Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS, it was my most played 3DS game. So it won't be a surprise if I enjoy this game too. I am also looking forward to Bowser's Fury.
