I should probably say Sword as Zacian has a much more appealing design and an arguably stronger selection of exclusives (and a cooler logo). I did pick Shield as my "main" version as I tend to favour what is perhaps the secondary version, even though I don't particularly like Zamazenta. I have made a few exceptions over the years where I have chosen the first version, including HeartGold, Black, Black 2, and X, but in all other cases, I've chosen the second. I buy both versions either way and usually play the other version when I'm hankering to experience the game again.
