How I expect each and every one of you to react to this information:
I had a really wonderful time in Oahu---I did some good hikes, swam a lot, and saw many beautiful sights. I spent one evening looking out over the local scenery while listening to the Pokemon Sun and Moon OST, which was sort of surreal, almost like I was in Alola. But yeah, it was an excellent vacation overall, though I'm happy to be home (my cats certainly seem to have missed me haha).
In terms of game news, I don't seem to have missed that much that interests me, besides the reveal of Planet Zoo 2 which looks cool, though I don't have anything to play it on (my PC is pretty old and with component prices, I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon).
Now I just need to figure out what the heck I should play now.
@D-Star92 Thank you for the kind words, I had a lovely vacation!

And so after 16 years on this site I feel its time for me to bid adieu. Over the past few days that I was pulled into arguments by others yet its me who get punished, I have my posts deleted for arguging while others can insult me, accuse me of actions that I didnt do. It finally came to an end with the Bobs Burgers thread. I am not going into details but its just a growing trend that I have been seeing here. Maybe my ideas, opinions, thoughts dont mesh with the community here, maybe I am old fashioned or something else I totally dont see, but whatever I havent felt as a part of this community for awhile.
I get it things change and sadly NL has but not for the better. When I first joined it was a refreashing site different from places like IGN, Gamespot, and other video game forums. People where treated with respect, and talked to one another with actual conversations. Now it seems people just post to start arguments, to prove something and declare that they are better then others. Thus is a problem with the internet anyone can say anything because they are anonymous. However to combat that there should be a good Mod team. One that is not afraid to treat all equally not be nonexistent or pick which people to punish and which not. I know this site is a business and you rely on traffic here and as the saying goes even negative business is good business and therefore banning members and keeping people from posting is not good for the top dogs. Unfortunately you end up with mess of people just arguing and trolling and nothing more. You dont have the community feel anymore, people cant freely discuss what they want without someone arguing and and in the end thats not a community I want to be a part off.
I am pretty sure me leaving wont matter and this post will probably be deleted for some goofy reason but I just wanted to goodbye. Some members in particular that I enjoyed over the years are @Waveboy, @NintendoByNature, @Zuljaras, @Mana_Knight and others that I am sorry but cant think of now but thank you for the years of great conversation and info. I will always cherish my time here and thank you to all the staff both current and former.
And so in the words of Kenny Omega Goodbye and Goodnight BANG!!!
@Tasuki well, I wish you a good rest of your life, and I bet others on the site do as well 👍.
Edit: I checked out the Bob's Burgers thread and yeah, that seemed pretty one-sided. I have no clue why only your posts were being removed, based on your other posts I have read you seem like a nice enough person for that to not be happening. If that happened to me, I'd also consider quitting or at least take a break for a while.
@Tasuki Take care! It's obviously up to you whether you stay or go and you should do whichever makes you happy, but it's been nice having you here. You'll be missed if you leave.
@Tasuki
Ya, I'm almost on the verge of vacaating myself. I really enjoy talking to you, -wc-, JaxonH(Who has been gone for several months now) and a few others. Yet most of the community on here, which to be fair is to be expected are much younger. Every time i talk about the 8-16 bit generations it's typically 'cricket cricket' around here simply because 99% of the people in the forums can't relate nor were there when those generations of consoles were in the now, putting that aside the current forum activity which is nowhere on the level as it once was in lets say 2008-2013. That's a whopping 17-ish to 13 years ago. But times change, and YT is now the ultimate to-go-to
Yet YouTube is a total cesspool by comparison though. You never truly feel like you're party of any community with whomeever you're suscribed to, even with some of the smaller channels. There's a level of disconnect and too many one off conversations by smart phone warriors that are often too lazy to type anything beyond a sentance or two, while also trying to shoot for top comment.
It's why i can't stand the thumbs up/down system and the ability for YouTube Content creators to heart comments. It's an artificial shallow way at pushing for validation, almost like a popularity contest, and it even dissolves into many subscribers winded up in these weird dellusional parasocial relationships with whome they're subscribed to.
Most of the time when you write a paragraphe, or maybe two, if it leads to that, broken up when responsonding to somebody else's comment, they wont' response nor read it. This is the world we pretty much live in. TT brain rot, dopamine sensory overload, endless vaults of entertainment at the touch of a finger, with tiny screens and touch pad keyboards while simultaneously doom scrolling and multitasking. This is why i prefer chatting in forums using a laptop or desktop pc, because no matter how small the community is you still feel like you're part of a community, a temporary community, because lets face it, nothing ever truly lasts and people come and go. Where as on YT, you're completely lost in the shuffel and are generally never remembered.
Ryno, WarioWoods, Corbs and so many others left years ago back in around 2015, around 10 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. The Wii(which was all the rage when NL was originally VC-Reviews in 2008) is getting close to being 20 years old now... What system came out 20 years in 1986 before the Wii? The NES. lol Time is flying. And my mid to late 2000 memories, and very early 2010's are compleltely overriding my late 80's & 90's. Memories fade, what a bummer!
Anyways, If you're itching to talk about video games with peeps online, I would just subscribe to a buttload of video game related YT channels and take a bit of time out of your day, when you've got time and engage with people in the talk backs. If you have nobody in person to talk to about video games for the time being, it's manditory to fuel the hobbie and make it that much more enjoyable.
HappyConsoleGamer, RetroBird, Console Wars, IGN(Mainly for 'Nintendo Voice Chat' videos), MyRetroLife, MyLifeInGaming, NintendoLife has their own YT channel which gets a lot more actiivty than the website itself it seems, MadlittlePixel(For FPGA retro consoles and more), ect. Will any of it be as great and community-like or driven as NL was in lets say 2010-2013? Nope. Not even close, but it's your next best option as Video game forums fade into oblivion. Plus, YT is crazy diverse and you can obviously find anything you can think of to talk about that you're passionate towards. it just sucks though, because you kind of have to limit your replies vs forums, you can't even post videos or pictures either. But regardless, it still helps at maintaning and fueling that passion towards whatever your hobbies may be if you have nobody in person to chat about them with in the time being.
PS: Do you remember back in like 2011/2012. When plenty of people would post in the 'You're Latest and greatest Retro Purchase?' thread which may of been created by me. People around our age would post pictures of their recent buys, be it board games, 80's/90s action figures(I remember posting a picture of a TMNT figure i bought, 'Sewer Surfer' Michaelangelo off eBay snd more.), 8-16 bit video games etc. Back then, it was still a bit sketchy and foreign to even be posting PS1 & N64 games in that thread. Neither console felt all that retro to me back in 2012. Thinking about the N64 back then and late 90's pop culture in general made me feel icky, because the early 90's imo were abizillion times better for numerous reasons. Especially 90 & 91 since they almost felt like an extension, in ways, of 89'.

@Tasuki ah that’s too bad man. I agree, sometimes it feels like things are one-sided on here. People say some pretty nasty things without repercussion and if I say something pretty tame it gets deleted. I think it’s just the way things are around the internet these days. Hang in there bud, I enjoyed the conversations as well. Hopefully you return one day and we can still chat about retro stuff and some “modern-retro” stuff as well. Lastly, almost holiday cereal time, have some boo berry!
@Tasuki Ah, no! I am honestly sad to see this. I am so sorry that you feel it is time to go. I have very much enjoyed our conversations, and you were one of my favourite people to interact with. Not sure if you will get a notification of this or not, but I really hope you might come back one day. I understand though. It is no fun when it is just arguments.
I don't enjoy that part at all. I stick around and overlook that part for the nice moments and people that do happen, like the movie thread, which is especially fun. I really hope you might return someday.
Take care man. Thanks for helping making my experience here a better one. ❤
If you haven’t already (I sometimes lose track of who’s who as most, myself included, don't use the same name!), feel free to add me as a Nintendo Switch friend. My code is in the signature, and I’d be happy to connect with you there. SW-2955-4696-6969
@WaveBoy Agh. Don't you go too! 🤣
Good shout out on the channels. My Retro Life is one I discovered only a few weeks back and been listening to one video most days. Some of the stories are not remarkable on the surface, but there is something deeply soothing and interesting about every tale he tells.
@Mana_Knight
The funny thing is, nobody will ever say "Agh, Don't you go to WaveBoy!" on YouTube. Another prime example of why YT is just a glorified cesspool of mostly forgotten cyber land rando's. When you're dealing with even just one Content Creater, they could have thousands of Subscribers that post almsot daily. Where as here, there's probably less than 40 people chatting it up in this very form, but even with lets say over 200 as in 15 years ago, it still felt like a super tight community as expected, as did most forums in general did back in the 2000's and even very early 2010's.
Anyways! Console Wars is another pretty solid YouTube Channel too. I'm not a fan of their setting/living space where they film of ghdif production values, but they're always a blast to to watch, as long as you're a fan of SNES & Genesis. Their Channel is dedicated to SNES vs Genesis multiparty showdowns. Where they disect each version and then come to a conclusion based on which of the two reigns supreme. Then you have Retrobird's goofy & lovable anylitical retro deep dives and more. lol It's like getting a free appointment or visitation with a retro gaming psycholigist that nearly sounds like Big bird from Seseme street.
But ya, think I'll vacaat soon and just stick with YouTube. Time Extension's community is a ghost town, PushSquare is all about PlayStation 5 and I don't even play mine anymore so there's nothing for me to say unless it's PSVR2, but there's like maybe 1 or 2 people at best that play theirs in the forum.
@Tasuki
And i definitely won't miss that clown Ogo79. That guy tried putting me down just for being good looking. The level of cringe man, I tell ya. Just for working out, eating healthy, ect. Lol
Why? Because people like him resent good looking dudes. The level of jealousy with some of these hardcore gamers that are overweight, eat like sh** with their awful standard american diets, that are also genetically not good looking are just taking the easy route, leading self destructive life styles, while tearing down those who do put in the effort to feel and look their best. Instead, people like him want everybody down on his level.
Instead, use that anger at the gym, get on the right diet with healthy food, find a good self care regimine, be the best you can be inside and out, and heck, delve into a bit of plastic surgery if that's what it takes. Practically everybody in hollywood does haha. It all leads to a higher quality of life in the end vs the former. That's the internet though, people will turn on you just like that. No Funk's giving because there's no real world relationship at play. And it's another reason why social media is straight up cancer.
Hiding behind a screen throwing insults thousands of miles away without any consequences just reveals their character. Where as in real life, face to face, 99% of the people in this forum would probably be fist bumping each other, all smiles, and agreeing to disagree. Social media just exposes the a**h**es. It would be no different if SM existed in the 90's as it does now either. it's always important to try and be kind to one another, but so many people can't even obide to that.
Like Vanilla Ice once said > "don't cater to a hater seeya later"
Probably the only other person here that loves WoW and HoMM3 ...
And you are right that the sense of community is gone here, unlike 5-6 years ago.
I ANY case you change your mind it would be awesome! Just do not delete your account, ask the admins to put it on "sleep/dormant" so you don't get notifications.

@Zuljaras Actually I will keep the notifications on, for the few of you that want to summon me but otherwise I am not going to be around. I wont delete my account to much history there to lose. But yeah I cannot and will not support a site that plays favorites, that sort of stuff is high school clique crap and I am too old for that crap. But yeah if you want to talk WoW or HoMM just summon me. Thanks for the good times.
