I don't know how iconic this is to some of you but for someone like me growing up in the 80's the General Lee was the star of the show Dukes of Hazzard. Well apparently Warner Bros the company that owns the rights to DoH have said today that from now on the General Lee will have the Confederate Flag removed from the rooftop. Not sure why or if this is some part of redesign but IMO this is dumb move. It would be like taking away Kitts ability to talk or the DeLoerean's gull wind doors. Its an icon and it needs to stay as is. I just love it when some idiot decides to mess with something that shouldn't be messed with.
Ehhh....I'm no fan of the Confederate flag or what it represents but this seems kind of pointless. Beyond that I never really watched the show so I don't have strong feelings either way.

Some people REALLY don't like their franchises, specifically the iconic parts of them, messed with. I guess it's been removed because some focus groups whined about how it may be offensive to some groups of people or how it may misrepresent some other groups. Well, I've never gotten into the series, so I could care less, but I guess some people are upset by it.
Huh. I know pretty much nothing of this series, but either this is incredibly stupid or incredibly pointless. If it's just removing it just...because...it's pointless. It doesn't matter. If having a Confederate Flag is somehow actually relevent for this character or series, then this becomes a very typical example of stupid people being offended and likely missing the point.
I have never ever watched that show, so I don't really know what to think about this.
Call me back when they take out Speedy's sombrero... Or when they decide to cut out the siamese cats from future releases of Lady and the Tramp.

The expression is couldn't care less. If you could care less you're stating that you care somewhat which makes the statement redundant.
But yes I completely agree with you. Never give in to whiners. >:0
Given that the confederate flag is essentially a symbol of racial hatred outside of America, and given that Warner Bros is a global company, I would have thought this was obvious and justified.

Key words emboldened above. Inside the U.S., the flag's symbolism isn't uniform. For caucasians in the Southern U.S., they may view it as a symbol of pride for standing up for your beliefs, the Southern U.S., Lynyrd Skynyrd, or, as is probably the case for the show, rebellion. It's all about context. As a Chicago-area caucasian who has studied the historical era the flag is most closely associated with numerous times, I tend to view it as a symbol of the South, along with rednecks, not the racist values it seems to promote. Obviously, with the more sensitive and politically correct society we live in when compared to the Dukes of Hazard's original run, Warner Bros. seems to think it would be inappropriate to continue using the General Lee with the Confederate flag on top. Whether that's good or bad is your opinion.

Not just outside America.

Speaking of context, try this puzzler: How many people in South US?
Now, how many people in rest of the world?
I've got no issue with people adopting the flag as a symbol of pride (assuming, y'know, they're not actually the white supremacists that the flag is often associated with). I just don't see how anyone could possibly object to a global media company removing what is quite legitimately a symbol of hate to the rest of the world from its movie.
I don't know of any movies/ TV shows that use the swasticka as a positive symbol of heroism/ larrikinism/ pride - but I really doubt if a reboot of that hypothetical movie/ TV show were to remove that symbol anyone would object. For most of us the confederate flag isn't a much more positive symbol than the swasticka.
(a) didn't they already do a Dukes of Hazzard movie complete with the flag-wearing General Lee?
(b) thank you for letting us know, Tasuki
