FD > Cool Spot. Absolutely!
I still think Cool spot is pretty great, as is the Noid from Domino's, than you've got Chester Cheeta, those Hostess goblins('The Munchies'), Popsicle Pete(So underated!), who was like the Captain planet of Popsicles. lol

I like being a cool kid (middle-aged man) on this thread.

I'm curious about Persona 3, but I will admit that I bounced right off p4 🙁 twice. persona 1 was pretty interesting, when i played it briefly, long ago. These games are just kinda always in my periphery, since forever, and one day I will give them a fair shot.

I like the idea of a simple spaghetti, maybe I'll try that sometime!

right now im making seared salmon with baked sweet potatoes and green salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. I top the sweet potatoes with feta and olives, with olive oil and herbs. so good!

this is my first post since I think Thursday. That second "Fox poster" article really put a bad taste in my mouth, and I thought about vacating this site completely but I really like you all and the forums.

speaking of, @NeonPizza unlocked a memory for me, with that Fido Dido ad! WOW, what a cool cartoon! so above and beyond what it needed to be. 😍 The 80s and 90s really were a special time, as you say.

(I'm 40 btw 🥳)

Time for another daily dose of 80's/90's pop culture commercial goodness.
I mean, who could honestly forget this one from the earlier 90's? I can remember it just like it was yesterday. So much talent, creatiivty and effort is on display here. It must of took quite a bit of time to whip this one together!

How could I ever forget "Boy bite with bowl and Bowser?" 😂

Seriously though I had zero recollection of that ad, until the first frame or two, and then the entire thing played through feeling as familiar to me as it would if I'd been watching it every day. The version after with animators notes or whatever was transfixing as well.

Side thought, I miss when Mario was a plumber from Brooklyn, rather than an odd Italian man with magical powers. (Nothing against Italians, or odd men I guess.)

I actually remember thinking Kraft Macaroni had a strong ad game going, and that mac'n'chz sounded pretty good and I should ask my mom for some.

@-wc- Ah, we're discussing food again. I am distinctly reminded of a demonic figure that you may have a slight affinity for:

Would you say that your fanatical approach to food (no insult intended) is well-approximated by this Disgaea clip?

OH yes now I remember! I wonder what happened?

I'd like to think our discussion here had something to do with it but who knows! In any case, I'm glad! 🥳

@-wc- Nope. I used the contact form and explained how my removed comments were not [piracy/current gen emulation]

Still, I do not know why they were tagged. Maybe someone reported them. But we will never know

ah, i see! I did that once, when my "getting blocked in the comments" discussion was removed, and then reinstated.

well I am glad to see that they saw the light, everybody makes mistakes!

I might be getting into some newer RE games now that CP2077 has reignited my interest in 3d/"modern" games. ✌️

It always feels great whenever a memory that's been laying dormant for what feels like an eternity randomly gets unlocked. but it really bums me out though, that with the passage of time our earliest of memories can easily fade and weaken. It's almost like we're forced to cling on to the next decade that came afterwards the now weakened memories as time continues to pass us by, because the memories that are obviously less distant feel more vivid and are easier to recollect, as if they almost could of been yesterday.

At 25, 1990 nearly felt like yesterday. At 41 it feels like I'm looking back and wincing at an incredibly magical, yet semi-stone age. When you do the math, 20 years ago from when i was 25 was 1990, what's 20 years prior to now? 2005/2006. Crazy!

In terms of gaming, the DS Lite, Wii + Virtual Console(On my epic 32" 4:3 2005 Sony WEGA Trintiron CRT using component cables)and first 1-2 years of the 3DS(Aqua Blue 'launch' 3DS. Always Aqua blue. ) generations from 2005-2012 or so have completely overrided my late 80's & 90's gaming memories. Can't believe the DS Lite will be 20 years old this June, along with the Wii in Nov. Heck, even the 3DS is just over 15 now.

And I too miss the more Brooklyn styled Mario, which was amplified x1000 from the live actions segmants from the Super Mario Bros Super Show in 89'. And I always preferred the original inverted Fire flower jump suit too vs the new. Including Mario's stock/original jumpsuit which used to have Red on the outside/Blue shirt on the inside for SMB 1, 2 & Super Mario Bros. Super Show. They inverted the jumpsuit colors when SMB3 came out.

And speaking of Mario, do you remember this? I had this exact blanket from like 89 up until 95. Sooo nostalgiac. It was a blend of both Mario 1 & the first Legend of Zelda. The hand drawn toon styled late 80's art work is just timeless and really egnites that wonderment back when you're a kid.

And who could forget these?

I had that blanket! And the sheets that match! When I couldn't sleep, I'd "play" Mario and Zelda on them with my finger, and obv my imagination 😅 Wow, like seeing an old friend. ♥️

Believe it or not, I remember those mario and TMNT valentines, too! I miss when "hand drawn" was still the norm, everywhere. I guess that slipped away during 32/64bit era.

One of my favorite songs ever is about this exact thing, especially memories shared between people. Maybe you'll like it, too! ✌️

(obviously the context here is a bit more "romantic" but I think the feeling is universal and broadly applicable!)

haha. I hear ya. When you're that young, when you believe in Santa(With the easter bunny and tooth fairy taking the back seat), topped with those magical December days leading into christmas(Early 90's Advent Chocolate packed calenders, the music, decorations, Christmas cookies, classic train zipping around under your Christmas tree on a circular track, with fake snow and a pile of Presents with that glorious fun looking 90's christmas wrapping paper etc). Can't forget those amazing Oct halloween days either. Heck, elementry school was a blast too during those holiday months for numerous reasons. Creating Pumpkins, ghosts, Ginger bread houses, Christmas characters and what have you out of construction paper, glue, popsicle sticks, glitter and all of that crafty jazz was the sh** back as a kid. lol

Basically dwindles down to Youth, wonderment, imagination, innocence, things feeling new, being so naive, just being able to suspend your disbelief on such a level that would make any 30-40 year old and onwards completely jealous, having no idea of just how corrupt the world can be and how much evil is out there, AND being a child of the later 80's & 90's. Two of the greatest decades ever. I felt like I lucked out big time, based on the time I was born, with the parents that i had and how supportive they were of my hobbies, the friends, neighbourhood we grew up in and massive family. Living in a pre-internet pre-social media world was fanfrikkintastic. These days, my world is a lot smaller! Life changes, but man does it feel like a colosal departure compared to what it once was.

And yup, I used to stare at that mario blanket, imagining the same kind of stuff, playing with action figures(TMNT, Ghostbusters etc) and almost using the blanket art itself as a backdrop or set piece to the zany scenario's I'd make up in my head with whatever toys I was playing with.

Anyways, I don't know man. I'm on the verge of vacating this site. I enjoy talking to a few people on here, but 99% of the people on here don't care about 80's & 90's nostalgia or anything that predates Switch 1, plus the Retro forum is dead. This site is packed full of teens, 20 year olds and early something 30 year olds which is totaly fine and expected. I mean, I was around 24 - 28 during 2009 - 2013 when NL peaked imo before YT exploded in popularity. Forums feel like they're on life support these days due to the insane rise of YouTube and plethora of other annoying social media platforms that are often designed around a Content Creator and their fanbase. I only post on YouTube(Much more so) outside of NL, but it's generally a total cesspool of mostly one-off conversations.

I have stopped reading articles, mostly, commenting entirely, and ended my support (which was a few bucks a month,) but I intend to keep using the forum as long as people like yourself and the others in this thread keep coming back 👍 for me, this is still like the old days 🙂 but yeah NintendoLife as a source of News and commentary is no longer for me [not feedback, not intended to be constructive,] a conclusion that I haven't come to lightly, or suddenly. ✌️

I also post more on Youtube! Some of my favorite channels are Techdweeb, Game Sack, Retro Bird, and Pixa.
