Is anyone participating in them this year? This is the first year I'm going to do it.

You could make a team of 6 Patrat, though

How about 1 Patrat and 5 Poké Dolls?

I know a lot of mechanics about pokemon, but I'm sure the only people who win those tournaments are those people who spend months breeding a single pokemon to get maximum IVs....

You can't enter super-powerful Legendaries like Zekrom and Victini, but you can use any Pokemon from the two legendary trios.

I live near San Jose but I won't enter as I don't have Black or White.

I've only just got back into pokemon, but after browsing through forums etc. I can't believe how dedicated the competetive community is. I wouldn't have the patience to breed for perfect stats, moves and the like!

Finally have my whole team of Pokemon I want, and (most) of their moves! Now I just need to EV and IV train the heck out of them.

Same except I need one more guy to fill in that slot in my party...

I went to last years event in San Jose, though I lost the 1st round . I won't be going this year because of the stupid Unova-only pokemon rule (I FINALLY finish my perfect I've been working for 2 and a half years, and that comes up sigh).

Ha! I see by your avatar that you've discovered the great force known as Ferrothorn.
Seriously, that thing takes hits like a planet (when trained correctly). If it weren't for that one Pineco that used explosion on my Ferrothorn, I would have maxed out special defense. (184 at lv.50)

I will not be participating in the competitions. I have a job and a sports team that both need me on the days that the competitions take place.
I've always wanted to go, though, and I wish you luck! Make that Ferrothorn show them what leechseed and gyro ball can do!
