I got a brand spanking new DSi XL this morning (the SMB Special Edition one) and set it up. I connected to my WPA wireless internet fine, got into the DSiWare shop, bought a couple of games, and all was well. I remembered I couldn't connect to get the weekly puzzles for Professor Layton and the Unwound Future with my old DS Lite, so I thought this would be no problem now that I could connect to the web with my new DSi XL.
Wrong. The game still wants a WEP key. I'm not willing to change my net security at home just to get the puzzles, so... any suggestions on a good place to go to get the downloads? Thanks in advance.

I'd just look up the WEP key and enter it manually. Sure, it's kinda a pain in the place where the sun doesn't shine, but it's better than no puzzles, I guess. Or just search around your town and see if there's Wi-Fi anywhere, but if your town is anything like mine, the only places with Wi-Fi will only give service to the Web Browser, if you're lucky.
sorry, DS games can only use unsecured or WEP connections, whether they're in a DSi or not. Depending on which Layton game you're playing, Action Replay codes are out there that will allow you to unlock all the Weekly Puzzles, though.

Whatever you do, don't change any of the other computers or devices in your house to WEP. If you have to temporarily change your wireless router to WEP in order to use the DS, fine. But don't change any of your computers or other devices to WEP. Let them flounder without a connection until you're done with the DS and then change the wireless router back to WPA2 AES (not TKIP, which is also broken).
what he's saying has nothing to do with your game and whether or not it can access the Weekly Puzzle downloads, just your network security. :3
