I'm pretty sure that he said they don't have any plans for another version at this time. And about them not being able to make a smaller version without removing key features, technology advances, I'm sure at the time of the launch of the original DS Phat they thought something such as the DSi was impossible. You can bet there will be more than one iteration of the 3DS, Nintendo has always done that with their handhelds, why stop now?
Thank you. That's exactly what I'm thinking. Yeah, their gonna tell us they can't do anything to make it smaller, but that's only to surprise us more when they finally do.
No I suspect what they said when they said it was true. They might not be able to make it smaller at the moment. When I say that it still might be a matter of cost. Though the more people buy a technology, the more it gets manufactured, the lower the cost ends up being later on to produce and thus later on it's suddenly possible to make something they weren't considering beforehand. They also might not be really focused on a newer design right now either. Though I do think that if you were the one to work on the design you might have other ideas going on in the back of your mind you wanted to incorporate but couldn't the first time for whatever reason. I do agree that they'll come out with another version sooner or later, but it's not likely they'll discuss it right now. It also might not be the primary focus for a little while. Though I'm guessing two years until the next one hits shelves. Maybe a year to a year and a half before we hear about it.

Originally I pre-ordered a 3DS from amazon.ca on Jan 19th, but they were still claiming they wouldn't even ship it out till the 30th, so I decided to pre-order from thesource.ca instead because they claimed they would ship out on the 28th. Maybe it's because I selected in-store pickup, but they already sent me shipping notification today, so it might actually be at the store for the 27th then. I'm really happy, because I wanted to make sure I had a system pre-ordered rather than risking not being able to find one for a long time, and I don't drive and this is the only store that's really close to me that was doing pre-orders. Yay!
A man is on line in new york city right now in front of best buy to get the 3DS on sunday! It's thurs and very cold outside. Guess that's what people do just to get there hands on one -)wow
I have mine right now and i am a bit disappointed as i just found out i can't see any 3d on the system. But Pilotwings is still great fun and SFIV as well.
