It seems that people are only buying the New 3DS instead of buying 3DS. And no one cares for the 3DSXL and the 2DS either. When will Nintendo stop supporting the 3DS?
Some random dude on Nintendo Life.
Toriel left for a while, so Freaky Fred took over her place!
Not changing this part of the signature until Nintendo announces Super Mario Sunshine 2.

The N3DS is to the 3DS what the DSi was to the DS. They'll both be replaced in a couple of years along with the 3DSXL and 2DS once the next generation of handheld arrives.
Current Playlist: Age of Calamity, Stardew Valley, ACNH
No reason because the differences aren't huge. New 3DS is to use the sweet new 3D and to have better loading times, faster responses, and better internet. The c-stick should be optional, but should be used as much as possible hopefully. There's also the amiibo support but they'll have an accessory for the old.
I doubt Nintendo would drop support for the 3DS in favor of the New 3DS, but they might make more games take advantage of the New 3DS' extra features, like Super Smash Bros for 3DS, Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Basically this. The DS Lite (the DS Phat, much like the Original 3DS, were phased out in 2007 and 2014 respectfully) The DS Lite was supported well through 2010, by 2011 (the 3DS launch) it certainly faded, but could still be found (for like $50!) until the end of 2011 (and maybe into 2012, I sure didn't see any after '11) Meanwhile the DSi, was supported well into 2013!
I think the same thing will happen with the 3DS (depending on what the NX is and launches) I could see the Original 3DS XL being phased out mid-late this year or early 2016 (due to the New XL's existence). The 2DS and the New 3DS XL will probably get support into 2019 (if NOA releases the the Small New 3DS, they'd phase out the new XL first) Last 3DS game...will probably hit retail in 2019 and digital in 2020 or 2021.
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...
Considering they don't sell the old model anymore, your first statement makes no sense. Also, the 2DS isn't even in Japan, so NOJ probably doesn't think about it. Reggie basically said they won't be making anymore exclusive software for retail release because the original model has such a high install base. They don't want to automatically cut off like 90% of their user base on new software. I could see ports where most of the work is completed, but that's about it. He did say they will have exclusive downloadable titles though. I don't remember the source as their was a ton of post-E3 interviews, but it's out their if you want to google it.
@DualWielding:
Why not? It's the better one. Why keep producing the worse Model? The price won't do a difference anyway. And by still selling the older model, they will be forced to price-drop it, and then they will sell even less of the new hardware.
Nintendo probably refreshed their manufacturing flows to the New 3DS way, to go back to the Old 3ds manufacturing way would end up with even more costs.

Pretty much this. I doubt we'll ever see the New Nintendo 3DS made their main focus, since the 3DS' successor will be announced fairly soon and the New 3DS is basically a stop gap in general.
