Topic: Thinking of saving up for a New 2DS XL

I am thinking about saving up for a New 2DS XL, but I'm not entirely sure I want/or need to. I already have an original 2DS I got about three years ago now, but there's something about the clamshell design and larger screens that lures me in; I was also thinking of buying it new while I still can- what do you guys think?

If you like SNES games or you have an interest in them, I would say it's worth it. Same if you want to play Xenoblade or FE Warriors. If not, personally I wouldn't do it simply because there aren't enough reasons for me

I'm getting a new 3ds because I lost my old one but literally the only difference is a few more games (xenoblade and fe warriors), the c-stick, bigger screens ig, and it's quicker apparently. I have to get into the backlog so I was considering getting a new 2ds xl, but all the prices are jacked up now because of corona, so I'll just like get a new 3ds instead.

I don't like Monster Hunter.

I'm probably listening to green day right now.

If you're set on getting one brand new, now's definitely the time to get one. I'd imagine they will be discontinued fairly soon.

I've not played the New 2DS XL (I have a New 3DS) but I wouldn't be too surprised if the New 2DS XL feels a lot better to play than the 2DS. The "New" features (SNES games, the handful of exclusives, and faster load times) are pretty cool but by no means necessary.

Honestly, unless you're set on the New 2DS XL, I would consider saving the extra money to get a Switch Lite. You'll have access to a whole new library of games that is ever-expanding. Plus the "New" exclusives mentioned by @roy130390 above are mostly available on the Switch in some form anyway (some SNES games, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Xenoblade Definitive Edition coming out next month).

At least 2'8".

I did just this last week — The reduction in weight and the SNES VC titles was enough to tip me over the edge. Just wish I'd nabbed one when they were readily available rather than having to scour eBay for a decent deal.

@andee did you get it for under $150? I have to like import one from japan for $100 (yes I know its region locked no that's not a problem)

@Lucarianzx I got it for 170 GBP with four games (it was the Mario Kart themed black and green one) — I'll probably make half of that back selling my 3DS XL

Edit to add: And yeah, there were a couple of NTSC-J models floating around, but I couldn't be bothered with the faff - especially since I'd be migrating my 3DS data over to it.

@Andew yeah that’s a pretty good deal, definitely sell it now because a lot of people have like nothing to do.
