I agree with you, I am not a fan of mobile gaming.

And as if Sony couldn't couldn't get any lamer take a glander at this:

Sony has officially ticked my can! They just get lamer and lamer honey child. Time to call Granny to go give em a fanning!

Mr. Iwata must be sitting somewhere shaking his head in disbelief or laughing up a storm at Sony's ignorance.

Calm down, man. I agree that the PSP2, err, NGP seems unoriginal for the most part, but keep in mind that these companies all borrow some ideas from one another. They look at worked for their competitiors and often adapt their own version of it. Nintendo has borrowed certain ideas from Sony, such as the use of optical discs for game media in home consoles and, more recently, the inclusion of an analog pad in their handheld. I'm not bashing Nintendo. I'm just saying that if borrowing concepts from other systems makes a console "lame," then technically every system on the market right now is "lame."

Personally, I'm really not very interested in this new system. As technologically advanced as the system seems to be, I can only imagine how much the system will cost and how short it's battery life will be. I predict $350-$400 at launch with battery charge lasting between 2 and 4 hours at most.

I think Nintendo was considering it, but dropped the idea

Whoever said the iPod touch and iPad were phones?

I'm not surprised to be honest. Wasn't too much of a necessity. Thanks, by the way, I never knew that.

No one ever said that, I was trying to show the difference between a game company and a phone company

Well, they sort of are... I mean, c'mon, they're just really advanced phones if you think about it. Really upgraded with multi-non-ordinary-phone functions.

Apple's not a phone company. The iPad and touch have enough games to be considered a gaming device

They aren't. They can't do that certain important thing all phones can do - make calls. Only the iPhone can make calls.

It does make them gaming devices so in a way they are partially video game companies even if its not their main focus, they don't have to make the games themselves to profit from the industry, just enable it to take place on their product.

Apple Inc wants to say they aren't a gaming company but yet at there keynotes they talk about how the iPod Touch is catching up to the Nintendo DS and the PSP in sales and the television ads even make it out to be a gaming the device and so in a way they are a gaming company even if they deny it.

PlayStation needs to focus more on a fun and quirky enjoyment instead of shoot-em up, blood em up and sex em up. Nintendo is far more whimsical, cool, innovative and always has something for everyone while Sony has in the past only catred to the hardcore rated M type of customer with all their god of war and red dead redemption type focus. Yet, I can clearly see that Sony is trying to change that as evidenced by their new focus on things like ModNation Racer Little Big Planet Sony Move and so therefore I'm willing to give them a chance.

Still, they better not smash us with a $399.99 price. I won't dare pay that when I can put the same amount into a PS3 even though the NGP is supposed to be a PS3 on the move.

I thought the iPad could! Wow, I need to top up on my Apple knowledge. In that case, I guess it has to be qualified as a gaming device... though it's primary use isn't gaming. See, that's the debateable side.

Apple and Sony aren't exactly "gaming companies". They both make different technologies for many functions aside from gaming or phones

This. Just this, so much this. Apple is more of a phone/laptop/wossname company, Sony's got their whatcha-ma-call-it TVs, only Nintendo provides the society with pure gaming and nothing but.

Did anyone noticed that at 0:26:18: that the music and sound effects for the "Near" app on the NGP are almost exactly identical to those of the Vote channel on the Nintendo Wii?

I like how Sony think that next-gen portable means a current gen portable with updated graphics and more control methods that already exist. Okay, it does more than that, but personally I'm not particularly excited for it. Sure, there'll be great games, but you can bet that most of them will be ports or shooters. Call me cynical, but I think the majority of great new creative games will be on 3DS. Still, I may be wrong.
