Topic: Changing brightness during DS/DSi/GBA software

So, some days ago when I decided to read the 2DS instructions manual I noticed a little something...

It seems that you can change the brightness during old software by pressing the home menu and using Start+Up/Down on the dpad.

WHAT since when has this been a thing? Was I the only one who had no idea of this at all?!

Yep, you've always been able to do that. I know because I use it quite often.

...and it was in the 3DS manual, too. It's always a good idea to read the manual!

I did read that manual too. I never saw that bit three years ago though!

I have been complaining about the lack of brightness settings during DS games for three years and nobody told me

...it's one of my favorite features, too; one thing I disliked about the DS Lite was that I had to turn the system off and on again to get back to the main menu in order to change the brightness... but since I've had the 3DS that problem is no more! All I have to do is pause the game.

I loved the DSi because of that, it controlled the brightness like the GBA Micro.

At least now I won't have to close the games to return to the home menu to do this Untitled

...this kinda reminds me of people who didn't know you could play DS games in native resolution, either.

they should have instructions for it when you press home. sometimes i forget how to do it. it would be nice if you could change resolution on the fly too, like on the gba when you played old gameboy games.

Yeah those are nice too! And in 3D! It really looks like you're playing it on the original system (especially if you turn on the green color-scheme!)

haha this made me remember old DS games that had a "turn off backlight" option on any DS other than the old Brick it turned off the display completely it was funny and left me desperate the first time it happened

Haha yeah, The Sims 2 does that.

It turns off the screens, it's kinda scary.

Not only the gb games but color and gba games too (I don't know about game gear or other handheld system though.)

The GameGear Virtual Console software is ten times better than Nintendos. You have many great options right there in the menu.
