Mario kart always gives me problems when trying to play online, sometimes it takes ages to get a game, then im often booted with a connection error. This afternoon I was using lovefilm on my ps3. I always connect to my router with a cable for ps3. I forgot to unplug this cable before I went on to mario kart. Since this cable has been connected to my router, got into a game first time and not been booted for over an hour.
I think the ether net cable is acting like an antenna. Worth trying if mario kart gives you online problems.

not possible for a cable not designed for transmitting wireless signal to act as an antenna.

I think it's a fluke. What brand of router are you using? If it's a Belkin, that's your problem. Trash it and get a Netgear or Linksys (Cisco)

I'd take his advice if you do. I had a belkin in my house for 4 years, and I was always not connecting to hosts in xbox and getting internet mishaps on my 3ds and I always blamed it on my crabby internet but turns out it was the crabby belkin router.

I had a Belkin for 3 years and eventually it burned out and would not take any connection (Unkown Network). So, we got another Belkin, but that once wouldn't allow us to play video games online. Trashed that one and now we have a nice Netgear router

Listen to the Lz.

Yes, but Routers only are good for about 2-3 years anyway, no matter the company that makes it.

i currently have a belkin router and average IP and have no problems connecting any of my game devices online. sometimes it just takes the right configuration. i.e. port forwarding. if you are having a hard time connecting initially to matches its a hancshake problem due to NAT failure and you should open all ports to the 3ds
