Oh. This is part of the same series as Ninja JaJaMaru-kun. Well. I want Trip World! lol If Ninja JaJaMaru-kun can come to the US for the first time on the Wii, I see no reason Trip World can't. Here's hoping.
I love how the box art has absolutely nothing to do with the game. Box art: Godzilla steals baseball cap dude's girlfriend. Game: Fancy pirate magistrate man steals star throwing ninja's girlfriend as they stroll through New York. Huh...can't decide which I like better.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I loved that game when I was a kid! I was thinking about getting it within the next couple of weeks! Maybe from a 20-something critic's cynical 2012 point of view it's no great loss, but the Turtles need to stay! It's not like the Wii VC is in great shape anyway. Here's hoping they bring it back after the 2012 TMNT cartoon premiers later this year.
EDIT: For the record, I DID download it previously. However several years and one Wii later I was going to have to re-download it because Nintendo hasn't bothered to let people have individual accounts until, well, the near future.
I just wish Pokémon would do something interesting or go away. When I was younger I understood it was some kind of phenomenon, but now it just seems like the same thing over and over and over. I'm starting to wonder what people still see in it.
@Koops3 Nintendo has already mentioned that retail downloads may be in the future with their upcoming online updates. Don't know if it's official yet but they mentioned it.
Well this was an annoying series of comments to read through. Come on guys! Don't turn NL into IGN for crying out loud! (EDIT: lol some of the comments were edited.)
Anyway...I hope the Wii U touch controls are different than the DS's. I remember all those creepy "touching is good" promos. When I finally got my DS there was no way I was going to smudge it, and no way I could because it really only worked properly with the stylus, not your finger tip. We shall see.
@14 As was I. Never said that's what it meant. I just don't personally like the style and want "expensive and beautiful" to mean something other than realistic.
@14 NOOOOO never let it be said I think that! 2D sprites all the way! SNES forever! But anyway...yeah I understand what you're saying. I'll bet I come to similar conclusions when I buy it this week. To be fair, it does seem a bit easier to sculpt a beautiful static pinball table or some good looking cartoon blocks than it does to make an adventure game where every environment is as beautiful as that though.
Yep, I am definitely getting this! One thing puzzles me though..."may not be the prettiest game on the eShop..." How is that exactly? How many fully 3D games (i.e., not games with 2D sprites popping via 3D) are there on the eShop? Seems like they're aren't too many that I know of. I think the main character looks great, and some of the wackier designs make me think of Wind Waker mixed with Animal Crossing. Quit picking on the poor berry-nosed samurai! lol
Oh please don't let it be another New Super Mario Bros.-style game. I have never liked those. I hope it's something new and awesome. Or something that just hearkens back to the Super Mario World days.
@Ryno I vote both. Mostly those whining about the complainers. I don't understand why the universal language of the Internet is comments that people thought about for half a second before posting them, punctuated with insults. Why so harsh? Why not think a second from more than one angle? Though some of the complainers might want to realize this weeks line up isn't too bad. Mutant Mudds!
Huh. I was going to whine about people whining about no VC releases, until I realized that meant there are scores of cool old games that NOA could be making available but hasn't been. Think of all the treasures and old favorites we've been missing. Now I'm sad
@Mayoman95 Even though I'm pretty sure this game would give me nightmares, it's not necessarily that it's just scary. I want to go see the Hobbit, which contains creepy goblins. I don't want to play Resident Evil, which contains creepy things. What does me in is the creepiness, the nastiness, the blood and gore, and pervasive sadism (Pyramid Head, anyone? among other things...). It's just too gross for some people. (I don't like games that make me feel like a pocket of Hell opened up somewhere lol)
@theblackdragon lol me too I guess. Sorry I don't see why it's such a big deal lol Perhaps I might if I ever encounter any rude Rainfall folks. Have a nice evening.
@theblackdragon "Operation Rainfall is irrelevant (much as they'd like you to believe otherwise), and I find it highly amusing that they think they had or or will have any kind of effect on whether any of these three games are or are not released here in NA" It just seemed a little overly harsh to me ok? lol I can have my opinions as well. And you'll notice if you reread my comment I was trying to acknowledged the other people making direct insults and that you were likely directing that mostly at the buffoons that support Rainfall. Everyone simmer down lol It just doesn't seem like a big a deal or "situation" as folks are making it out to be. I almost forgot Rainfall existed until today. It just doesn't matter that much to me. Not trying to offend you.
@theblackdragon lol yes I already knew you were saying you don't think that's how it plays out in real life. But, if you want to think that because there are some idiots that support it out there that you can mock everyone in general that supports is behind it and say they're wasting their time and etc. etc. that's fine with me. I'm just saying, and you'll notice others here that have also, there's no need for the general insults. I never said I liked it. Never paid much attention to it. I also understand your frustrated with the buffoons making it look bad. I just think it's sorta small minded to insult it with sweeping statements (like others are doing). You know, seems like folks here could just tone it down a little. It's not like it matters. They're not blocking it from coming. If sales are good they'll send it over. Just seems to me it's not as big a deal as folks are making it out to be.
@theblackdragon lol why would that offend me? Thanks though. I don't know much about Operation Rainfall or how it works really. But I could declare myself a "follower" and act like an idiot, yet as I said I don't know anything about it. I'm just saying that Gamesake has a good point, and just because there are, of course, idiots on the Internet that doesn't mean everyone should just call the folks behind Operation Rainfall "spoiled brats." Though maybe some of them are beastly buffoons. I dunno. That could be said of anything really.
I was always planning on playing it alone. My cousins don't live anywhere near me anymore anyway, and the one that does is too busy, and I don't know anyone else who owns a 3DS, and...so yeah. No multiplayer is fine with me.
Operation Rainfall: "First off, I just want to reiterate the purpose of our campaign: We are a positive campaign that is attempting to communicate with Nintendo for the release of two critically-acclaimed RPGs: The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower. We also promote the selling of Xenoblade Chronicles in hopes that it sells well enough to justify the release of the other two games. "
How are they acting like "spoiled brats?" Just sayin'
I'm with @kyuubikid213. I really don't care about seeing NES games come to the 3DS VC. Leave those for the Wii (you know, an actual console). If they focus more on handheld games maybe we won't have to wait 8 more months before we start seeing some Game Gear games!
Cool! I'm going to listen to it more once I play the game though. I don't want to spoil hearing the music in each stage before I play it. But I just may consider getting this, if for no other reason than to show some more support.
@DarkEdi Fair point. But even many other countries simply call us Americans. But yes, we're technically the United States of America, which is a part of the collective "Americas."
To those saying it looks bad...you have fair opinions but I think it's just that it wasn't what you were expecting. To me, it looks unique. Almost like a strategy game mixed with an action game, or a more advanced version of Megaman Battle Network or something. Only being able to move in four directions like that during combat seems really interesting to me (realistically, you'd be wanting to face your opponent anyway). I also personally love the art style. Makes me think of Japan and Nintendo. I think it does it's job well.
@bboy2970 I agree. It's nice to be able to know what's coming so I can set aside some money. Now I shall be setting aside $17 for Mutant Mudds and Sakura Samurai!
@3Dangerous3Dash Indeed, the whole UK would fit into America about 40 times so...even if it did come here there's no telling if we'd be able to get there easily I think the farthest I've even been from home is when I went to Texas last summer (takes about as much time to get from one end of England to the other as it did for me to get there).
While I would prefer these were the Mushroom Kingdom/Mobius Olympics, this actually looks like it could be fun. I've never given the other installments a chance. I'll be happy to download the demo.
If your playing with other people I'd have to say it's chaeting unless you all agree it's OK.
On another note, I miss the days when you could find awesome cheat codes online like infinite this or that and invincibility. Now all those sites have are a list of "unlockables" and "achievements." Ohh how I hate achievements...
@Portisanta I also hate horror games, so I shan't be downloading this. I'm not a big fan of Mario/Sonic Olympic games either, so...but I will download it anyway. Maybe it'll convert me. I just hope they don't decide to take the demos down "just because" like they did with WiiWare.
Devil's Third is rumored to be coming to Wii U (it uses the same engine as Darksiders II). I'm not interested, but others might be seeing as it's by the guy behind Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden.
@Ryno Ha! We had the SNES Home Alone game. I think the Nutcracker Suite is burned into my brain because of that game. I always thought it was kinda cool, kinda creepy (when I was a kid), and a little hard. Ah memories. It wasn't as creepy as that Jurassic Park game though...those raptors freaked me out.

@James lol I see. I should've known you'd be a connoisseur of 90s Sonic promo art. Kudos!
Re: Mario & Sonic London Olympics Sprints to 2m Sales
Where'd that image of Classic Sonic with a baton come from? I can't imagine it's promotional art for lanky wobbly Sonic's Olympic outings.
