Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fit Into the Zelda Timeline?

To me, Breath of the Wild could take place in the far future of any timeline. Eventually Hyrule will fall into ruins it's just a matter of when. Downfalll era/Era of Decline post Zelda II might be the most likely for the placement of BotW on the timeline as it is the least complicated. There is very little to disprove that BotW takes place after Zelda II after all. I just hope this Link is not the same Link of Zelda II because I want a new Link with a new story of his own.

There is a theory that interests me. What if BotW Link is the Link that did not exist during the Era without a Hero? What if he was the forgotten hero that flooded Hyrule? The rust and grime on the Master Sword could always be due to other things apart from a great flood. A hundred years does many things to a poorly mantained sword. Perhaps the Kokiri evolved into the Koroks before BotW to escape the terror of Ganon? It would be interesting to see a game where our hero 'fails' ultimately as he has to flood the land. I really wish for this be true as it reminds me of the Valley of the Flood. I have the feeling BotW might have a dark story considering the Shrine of Resurrection Link awakens in implies he was dead.
