Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 8th)

Took the plunge on TOTK last week and am enjoying it so much but wow it is big. I also get SO sidetracked as every time I’m on the way to do something you come across loads of other things to do; a monster strong hold to clear, a cave to explore, a korok to chase, a rock falling from the sky to recall - it’s an incredible experience and I’ve decided to just enjoy the world for a bit and explore/get through the shrines before I progress the story. When I got to the end of BOTW I was so underpowered and underprepared it made the final boss fight almost unbearable, so this time I’m going to make sure I’m super prepared when I eventually go toe to toe with whatever awaits at the end - at this rate I’ll be lucky to finish it by Christmas!

Outside of TOTK maybe some online multiplayer but not sure what, perhaps fortnite if I want to ruin my mood.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fortnite was groundbreaking when it came out and I couldn’t get enough of it. I think I pulled all nighters at one point because I was so into it, probably the most hooked I’ve ever been to a game. The building mechanics mixed with the battle royale and shooter gameplay is the holy trinity of deep multiplayer gameplay, with permadeath adding to the stakes.

Ultimately, the high skill ceiling forced me to move on as I could never quite get my building skill high enough to be able to compete in those endgame 1-on-1’s but I did enjoy marvelling at how accurate and deadly some players managed to become.

Love it or hate it this game has changed gaming forever, a massive achievement.

Been playing NFS Hot Pursuit which is good fun, and the cross play means you’re always in a packed lobby straight away.

Just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3 but can’t bring myself to buy the expansion as it is quite expensive. I also haven’t played 2 as tried it and didn’t like the anime style, so won’t understand much of the Rex elements, is it worth it?

Toying with a purchase of Ys VIII for my next RPG series so I can get through VIII and IX ahead of the release of X later this year, apparently it’s great.

Any advise welcome! Happy gaming!
